My back is better. It still hurts and seizes up on me spontaneously, but I’m much more functional now. Thanks for the well wishes.
The shawl is fixed. Hayden was over last night, and I tried it on her again. It was plenty long enough. It’s amazing to me how much difference height can make. So, now I need to decide on an edging. I think the edging in the book looks a little heavy, probably because it’s garter stitch. What do you think?
I could just edge it in the seed stitch on the neckband. I could find another edging (I haven’t had much luck in finding a suitable one yet). Or I could try to mess with the pattern’s edging a little bit. Maybe adding more yarnovers, or trying it in stockinette (tho’ it might roll).
I’m going to Village Yarn and Tea tonight to spin on a Majacraft Rose, to see if I might like the Suzie. I’m very excited. My birthday is in 2 1/2 weeks. Nate and I were discussing the possibility of ordering it early so I could have it on my birthday.
Well, I was discussing it. He didn’t say very much. Actually, he didn’t really say anything at all.

I would vote for the seed stitch. I’m a big fan. It always looks lovely :o) Have fun test driving the wheel. I am still so jealous. I can’t wait to see the finished shawl!!! Oh..and I’m glad your back is feeling better too ;o)

The edging is a little heavy, but it is very easy to knit– especially if you master the knitting backwards methods suggested in the book. It is harder to knit backwards if there are lace elements on both sides of the pattern. Bev–who found the shawl heavy overall, so the border was very consistent.

I have a Rose, it was a combined Christmas/birthday gift from my fiance, and I ADORE it. I’ve neve spun on another wheel, and basically taught myself to do it on the Rose when it arrived. So I can’t compare it to others, but I really like the Majacraft double treadly-ness, the moveable bobbin hook, and just the way the thing is put together. I hope you like the Rose too!
