Friday is knitalong day

I’m getting there!

image

I have three more lines to stitch, and the ends to weave in. I haven’t charted an angel for Liv’s stocking yet. Do you know where I could find a charted angel that fits in a 30×45 stitch area? Feel free to post any stocking updates in the comments.

Do you know where the term “misery loves company” came from? Well I don’t, but I have a guess, and that would be insomniacs and mothers of infants. I got a grand total of 4 hours of sleep last night, divided into a 1 hour chunk and a 3 hour chunk. After that, when the boy finally went back to sleep and as exhausted as I was, I couldn’t sleep. It really sucks being unable to sleep, wanting to more than anything, and not having anyone to talk to because everyone else is asleep. Misery certainly would have wanted company at 3:30 this morning. I have that horrible pit in my stomach that comes from far too little sleep. It won’t go away, and it sucks.

There’s my superficial complaining, but I am heartbroken for a reason far more serious. My aunt lost her baby at 7 months this week when the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck. She had to deliver her yesterday. They also lost a baby to SIDS a number of years ago. In his email, my uncle mentioned her also. So sad. I can’t even imagine.

I think I’m going to be a little more appreciative when I can do nothing but sit and hold Clark today.

Laura, that stocking is nothing short of AMAZING! Truly, you are so gifted.
Though I have all three stockings knit, I have yet to do anything about putting the names or hangers on them.
I’ve been feeling very thankful also lately. I have been thinking so much about that family that got stranded in the snow in Oregon and ended up losing the father. I am so sorry about your family loss. . . it does make a mama feel so very thankful, even in the trying moments. As you know very well, the sleeping comes for the little one and eventually, you’ll sleep too. I bet there’s an on-line support group for 3 am mamas. . .and if not, you should start one!

I’m there with ya. I have been dealing with teething so even when he goes to sleep it’s only in spurts because he can’t settle in for the night. Fun times. I’m so sad to hear about your aunts loss. I can’t even imagine the heartbreak of losing a baby…not once but twice. It makes my heart hurt to think of it….I think I’ll go hug all the kids now :o) And I’ve loved watching all your stockings take shape!

The argyle stocking looks absolutely beautiful!! I had a difficult time picturing it when you first started, but now that I see it, I may need to try something like that in the future.

I finally received the yarn for the remainder of my second stocking, yesterday, and managed to get the rest of the foot done. All I have left is the toe decreases. I might actually get it done tonight! I’ll try to send a picture on Monday.

The sock is to die for gorgeous. I keep wanting to pluck up the courage to give socks another go and pojects like this inspire me.

Hope you get a chance to steal away a few extra winks.

Sorry to hear about your Aunt’s loss. I could not even begin to imagine how devastated she and her husband must be. I will keep them in my thoughts and prayers.

I know the misery of lack of sleep! I feel for you.

  6. Stacey Says:

Sorry….in my last comment, I forgot about the stocking. I love the way it turned out.

Wow, you have made such progress. And so close to the end of a difficult project — I’m impressed at that too. Good perseverance!

I am so sorry for your aunt and your family. What a sad, horrible thing to have to go through.

Oh, I’m so sorry for your Aunt and her family Laura; that’s really sad.

    (Also, your stocking looks lovely.)

Sending lots of good thoughts your way for your family’s loss. So hard losing a child, and to have to do it twice must be heartwrenching. My heart goes out to them.
