Yesterday, Veronica and I spent the whole day decorating for Christmas, and when the girls got home, we started on the tree. I must be feeling better, because aside from my back being a little sore at the end of the day, I did really well. I took a breather on the couch for about 20 minutes around 2ish, but other than that, it was very busy.
This year I put the nativity on my tea table that has been displaced by the Christmas tree, instead of on top of the piano so the girls can get close and see it really well. I think I can trust them not to touch it, and since it’s one of their favorite things, I like having it down on their eye level.
In fact, as I went out just now to take a picture of it, Veronica was there, with her little face 4 inches from Mary.
Today, we’re about to head out to get a few more glass ornaments from Michael’s. The red, velvety, stripy ones are cool, and I want more. Then we’re going to the store to get some supplies for gingerbread baking later in the day. Like flour. I’m going through it like water this year. Plus, this weekend Nate and I celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary, and I need supplies for that, too.
Thanks for the response on Microspun. There were quite a few conflicting opinions, but I like having the input. I think I’m going to continue looking for Red Heart in the right colors. If I’m dealing with a pilling yarn at all, I’ll use Encore. I have some great superman colors in that already, and I love the yarn, but I know that when VERY well loved, it fuzzes and balls quite a bit.
Now that I think of it, there’s only one Encore project that fuzzed and balled a lot. The rest of them are ok. Hmmmm.

Your tree looks wonderful! And what a beautiful nativity. I can’t wait to go home after school ends this week and get started on my own Christmas decorating and celebrating – yum cookies(and the hat for your knit-along. I’m looking forward to having knitting time instead of term paper time!). Have fun baking and crafting!

Is she as good (well behaved) as she looks? She looks like a darling angel. The tree is gorgeous! Not sure if I have the energy for all that this year…I’m sure I’ll miss it if I don’t.

12 years? You were a baby when you got married!
Veronica is so sweet — she looks like she could be the angel for the top of the tree. You’ll have to get some more photos of all 3 girls in front of the tree — when they are in school, there are not as many of the older 2!
Check out the Artyarns website (http://www.artyarns.com) for its Supermerino — there are some very Superman colors like 115, 231/134, 121/207/226/229 (?). Supermerino for a superman!!

It’s true. She’s the one that’s home with me during daylight hours, and once the girls get home, it’s a madhouse of homework, dinner prep, and catching up on their day. Doesn’t leave a lot of time for leisurely pictures, but I’ll be sure to get some of them all in front of the tree.

And Tammie- yes, she is literally that angelic and sweet. I’ve enjoyed having alone time with her this school year. She is easily shuffled to the background when the other two are around, because she’s so content to entertain herself quietly.

Your little one is so cute.

Do you have a good gingerbread recipe? I made some last weekend and it was kind of lame – too soft and not spicy enough. I love Christmas!
p.s. Veronica is a sweetie!

Sorry to come in late with this information on the Miscrospun sweater I made for my friend’s first baby, which apparently has been passed to Baby Girl No. 2!:
“It has held up quite well..so well in fact, that Rachel can wear it with pride!! I also made SJ a sweater out of it and Rachel is wearing that one too!”
I hope this might be helpful for next project.

We’re not religious and we celebrate Christmas in a secular way, but just the same I love your nativity. So pretty. And so’s your little one.
