Inconclusive

The baby was determined to “hide the goods” yesterday. It was hugging the umbilical cord, with its legs crossed tightly onto itself. The ultrasound technician is pretty sure she caught a glimpse of a boy, but we won’t know absolutely until our next ultrasound on November 29th. In the meantime, we are assuming we have a growing boy in there.

It’s still very squishy in womb because we’re only at 19 weeks. I guess if I had waited until 20 weeks, there’d be a lot more fluid around him and we’d be able to see more. Serves me right, I guess. BUT, now we get to have another ultrasound!

Last night I was checking my stats, and someone had got to my site by Googling “charming husband”. So I did the same, and my site comes up as the fourth listing. In all of Google, Nate is one of the top most charming husbands. Lucky me! He was quite surprised.

My pink Esther Williams hat is done,

all except for the scalloped edging that needs to be crocheted on. And it is amazing how badly it needs it. It makes all the difference in the world.

I tried my hand at it last night, but I need an expert. My friend Gayle, who crocheted the first one, is going to come over later and help me.

I want to knit one more by following my pattern, to check it, before I post it for everyone. I called one of my sisters-in-law that had recently admired the hat, and asked her to pick a color so I could knit one for her. And she picked red. I don’t know how I’m going to knit and then give up a red one. It’s my color! But hers will need to be a repeat shorter, so it won’t fit me anyway.

Fortunately, It’s a quick knit, and a fun one. I aim to have the pattern up soon, so if any of you want to knit them for Christmas gifts, there’d be plenty of time.

I think we have a boy!

Congratulations on a special baby, boy or girl!!!

The hat is so adorable! I am so stuck in my knitting, I am thinking of hosting a monthly knitting party up here at the barn, although it’s probably to far for all you south enders 🙂

    Anyhoo, happy baby dreams!!

congrats! sophie was determined to hide the goods the whole pregnancy, which was fine by me, but drove my mother crazy! i rather liked the last minute surprise.

and i rather like the hat, as well! i think i will be gifting it this year so i am looking forward to the pattern. it’s becoming a tradition with me, gifting laura hats; last year it was a hayden!

How wonderful! Do you have names picked out for either possibility? I love your girl’s names. Hat is so cute!

  4. Janell Says:

Congratulations! The nice thing about boys…they LOVE their Mamas. The not so nice things about boys, they pee all over the place. As a potty training mom, I gotta tell you…it’s gross.

Such baby excitement! If the baby is indeed a boy, then you will have the exact oppposite of me- I have three boys and one girl.
You are a lucky one to have such a charming husband!
I love that hat, and look forward to the pattern. It is so very pretty!
Do the girls think they are ready to fuss over a brother???

    Congrats!
The Esther Williams hat is so cute – my swimming friend is going to die for one!

I wanted to comment too on the idea of the balloon cable hat. I just made the scarf for my hubster and was thinking that it would be perfect as a hat, but I’m too inexperienced of a designer to know how to convert the pattern to a hat. If you do so, I would love to know how you do it. Or, if you have suggestions on how it would be done I will gladly try my hand at it and share with you. Thanks!

Ooh, don’t you just love getting an ultrasond glimpse of the little one? When I was pregnant with Nea I would have liked to know if I was expecting a boy or a girl, but she refused to reveal herself. 😉 I got a little girl, but I’d have been just as happily surprised with a little boy. 😀

Any chance of a baby knit-along? I just ripped out a toddler cardi this evening, after noticing I had miscalculated… *sigh*

  8. Jenn Says:

I love that hat! I want to make it!! Red is going to be gorgeous!

    Congrats! 🙂

  9. Kathy Says:

Congrats! Little boys are WONDERFUL! And very different from little girls (who are also wonderful) I think it’s something about seeing glimpses of your “Charming Husband” as a child.

  10. Jennifer Says:

Damn, you got a shy one there! Oh well…

    Very cute hat!

  11. Katie Says:

I’m thinking I’ll make a red one for my mum-in-law!

Then your kids will be like me and my siblings – three girls and then a boy! We tortured him something awful, but he seems to be turning out ok (he’s 13) 🙂 Looking forward to the hat pattern; it’s very pretty.

  13. Monique Says:

I had a feeling that was gonna happen!

I am excited that you get another one soon.

Any names picked out yet for either? I love your girls names.

  14. Jenifer Says:

Oh how wonderful on another baby. Boys are great and as another commenter said, they LOVE their mama!!

Love the Esther hat and can’t wait to try my hand at making a bunch for Christmas!!

    Those hats look awesome.

Ultrasound pics are just so cool. We had a 3-D ultrasound done and there was no doubt about the the gender of our little guy. I wanted to know but I would have taken the surprise as well. It’s fun to pick out knitting projects now though.

  16. Mavis Says:

I love the hat!! I’m mentally searching through friends to determine who would appreciate/wear it. So funny, so cute. Kudos to you!

Can I just say – the eye sockets kind of creep me out. I saw them on my last ultrasound and it was a little scary. I have a level 2 ultrasound this week and am hoping to see the goods. Seein’ as there’s two in there to get in each other’s way, I may be in the same boat as you though. Keeping fingers crossed…
