Inexperienced me didn’t even look at my insurance card, because I know we have a $1000 deductible. Gayle suggested looking to see what my Comprehensive deductible was, and what do you know? $100. I am a happy girl. So, I’m going to re-evaluate the financial situation before making any rash decisions about a spinning wheel. Thank you, Gayle! Hero of the Year!
Thank you all so much for your kind words and even a few suggestions for a PayPal button. You’re so nice. I think I’m going to be ok though. I’m still crunching numbers and deciding what to do.
In other good news, look what I found at my LYS.
The magazines were mine, but I now have a MAGAZINE RACK! It’s big and cumbersome, but magazines are expensive, and mine were getting thrashed. Plus, they were stashed in so many different places, that I rarely even saw some of them. Now they are accessible and safe. Hooray!
I must admit to being somewhat shocked that I could fill it so well. I thought I’d have more room to grow than I do.
In actual knitting news… (I know it’s been awhile).
I’m still working on the red Flower Basket Shawl, slowly. I half-felted mom’s clogs while doing laundry yesterday. They take FOREVER to felt, so I’m doing it in stages. I hope to finish the job today. My sister-in-law wants a cardigan, so we spent Tuesday morning looking through my magazines and books. It’s obvious she’s not a knitter because her eyes started to gloss over after a couple hours, and I was disappointed we had to stop. Yes, we spent a couple hours looking at books and magazines. Add that to my telling you that we didn’t make it through them all and you have an idea of what a book/pattern junky I am. I have no desire to change that.

ooh, i hope the insurance works out. i’m so sorry about your car. 🙁 did you find a good cardigan for your sister-in-law, or was all that looking through magazines for naught?

We found some good ones. It’s down to two, and it will depend on what yarn we find. The Ribby Cardi if we choose worsted weight, and a Tahki Stacey pattern in Vogue if we go with bulky.

Yeah Gayle! What a great idea…I wouldn’t have thought to look at my insurance card either.
Glad you were able to narrow down the cardigan search. It’s neat that you are doing that for your sister-in-law. Something she will cherish I am sure.

Ah shucks, anything for a friend. You know I can’t keep my big mouth shut. Which leads me into what I would normally have opened this commentary with:
Nice rack! Growing room? Not you, sister, some of us maybe. My mag collection is teensy compared to yours! It is very exciting and a wonderful find!!! Especially since I am cutting off all my subscriptions when they run out and will have to be the bothersome neighbor!
Good job!
I see Ms H in something like the Cable 8 (just made for her little frame) or maybe the VCC; then you could change the cabling the way you want it. How about a hoodie?
Hope you get a spinner soon!

Yay, Gayle! I’m glad things are looking better on the whole car situation. Still, what kind of jerks would do such a thing?
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I’ve discovered My Space on MSN so I now have my very own blog! Last night I was fiddling around with it and it’s pretty cool. The only thing I don’t like so far is that I can’t seem to post pictures within my posts. They just attach themselves at the end and they are so puny small that you really have to click on them to see what they are. Oh well, I may switch and try something else later on. But, for now, I’ll try this. Check it out and let me know what you think. 🙂

Glad to hear that you may still get your wheel! Love the mag rack, mine get trashed bc I like to look through them so much just to look, and the ones that came through the mail get all messed up before they get to me….Good luck with the insurance!

I could really use one of those racks! I buy magazines more than knitting books; having them all in one place and easily accessible would be cool.
