That’s right. Lauralund is done, baby.
I know these pictures are pretty lame, but it was POURING down rain yesterday, so I wasn’t going outside.
As for love, Valentine’s Day is approaching. Last week, as I was knitting on the Kathmandu shrug, and slipping my pretty stitch markers…
I was thinking about how Valentine’s-y they looked, and then it occurred to me. I want to host a Finchy’s Feeling the Love giveaway. That’s right. On Valentine’s Day, I’m going to draw names from the comments of this post, and send out little gifties. I don’t know how many names, and I don’t know how many gifties, but I’d like to give Valentines to as many of my sweet readers as possible. SO, this week, I’m going to be making Valentines. I have some ideas. Valentine colored stitch markers will factor heavily, but I’m also thinking of other things. I’m only being mysterious because I don’t want to commit to things and then have to stress about getting them all done. No. This is going to be fun. I will tell you this though, I think Mary Sunshine’s doll (see sidebar) is getting a twin. Yup, we’re Valentine’s-ing, and it’s going to be great!
In the interest of full disclosure, I’ll have you know that my beads are plastic, my yarn is acrylic… I’m not breaking the bank on this, but if you want to throw your name in the pot, leave a comment telling me as much in this post. Or an email, if you are unable to leave comments, as I know some of you are. On Valentine’s Day, I’ll post the list of winners, as well as a picture of the loot. I’m going to shoot for as many winners as possible, it all depends on how productive I am this week. Wish me luck!
UPDATE- Contest is now closed, as I’ve posted winners on my Valentine’s Day post. Thanks and happy Valentine’s Day!

What a cute idea! And what a great sweater!
Hey…how about a tutorial on how to do those stitch markers? If I don’t win (because I never win things), I’d like to at least know how to make me some of those pretty bangles!
February 6th, 2005 at 11:03 pm
Your sweater looks great! I love the closure you chose to make. I am a pattern following kinda gal, so I love to watch the changes other people make in their knitting.
February 6th, 2005 at 11:16 pm
Loving the sweater, I really need to make something along those lines (one of these days). It looks nice and warm and comfy 🙂 🙂
Count me in for the drawing, such a sweet idea!
February 6th, 2005 at 11:24 pm
Your Lauralund is VERY nice and great job on the stitch markers!
I’m hoping to have a photo posted Friday on my blog of all 3 of the Hayden hats I knit during the KAL, I’ll keep you posted.
Thanks for the Valentine’s-y drawing, how fun!

laura! i love how you cardiganized lauralund. i started a boolund for my daughter last year and it has been sitting idle. but i think i may blatantly rip off your idea and make her a cardigan instead; she can rarely be persuaded to wear an actual pullover, preferring instead to layer an assortment of shirts.

Hey There! Your sweater is beautiful – and look lovely on you!! I am a long time reader (1st time poster) and love how creative you are in your knitting. What a great idea for Valentine’s Day!
February 7th, 2005 at 12:00 am
Hey Lady,
I second the idea for a mini tutorial for the stitch markers. Love the cardigan modification on the Lauralund.
As for me. I’m in poncho mode. Already made the little one a poncho, now I’m working on a matching one for me.
February 7th, 2005 at 12:12 am
Love the cardigan! I’m also a long time reader and first time poster… 🙂
I’ve been meaning to try making some stitch markers… I just bought some plain old loops from the yarn shop but they’re so not interesting.
That’s so nice of you to send little gifts, I do hope I can return the favor!
February 7th, 2005 at 12:50 am
I’m long time reader and first time commenter as well!
Your sweater turned out beautifully!
Just wanted to share – I was sooo jealous of you one day when you posted about going to Hilltop with your husband on a date. I thought of you when my husband went with me to Skeins on our date the other day. Of course we were picking out yarn for him, but…that works!
Your stitch markers are very cute and I need some pretty ones instead of lame plastic ones. Please enter me in your drawing.
P.S. blog is just starting and i haven’t done much yet.

Lauralund looks lovely! Isn’t it nice to get something done? Your valentine idea is a good one, too. Wish I would have thought of that! You can throw my name into the hat!
February 7th, 2005 at 1:26 am
Laura, I can’t seem to click on your links today for the post I’m supposed to leave a comment on to throw my name in for the Valentine giveaway. Can you please add me? Thanks! What a nice idea.

Lauralund looks great! and the pictures are very entertaining. I got very sidetracked from my hayden hat with several scarf projects and a recently acquired digital camera. hope to return to the hat soon.

Oh, it looks lovely! But what about the “stole”…do we get a picture of that? I hope the evening was good too. I like the way you “closed” lauralund; is that the pattern or did you tweak it? And the vamp pose is lovely!
February 7th, 2005 at 1:39 am
Lauralund is wonderful! I love seeing the creative process at work — she’s absolutely lovely!
February 7th, 2005 at 1:47 am

You have the biggest heart of anyone I know! What a sweet and thoughtful idea to have! I would love a Poor Miss Finch Valentine and I think your adoring fans’ idea of an online tutorial is awesome.
I have really gotten the Cupid Arrow this year, too and have been thinking up some fun ideas…

Lauralund is beautiful! This is my first time to your site – you choose great colors. Congratulations on losing so much weight – also – I think that is fantastic. You have a very good outlook on the importance a scale should have in how you are feeling about your diet and exercise. Happy Knitting!
February 7th, 2005 at 1:00 pm
Lauralund is absolutely gorgeous – I do hope you wrote down the pattern for that. It’s beautiful!

February 8th, 2005 at 11:19 pm
I am a plus size who is venturing out past scarves with Clapotis. Since it has 18 or so (plastic markers-yuk), I too, have been on the hunt for a how-to on stitch markers. I didn’t find anything on the Scrabble scene, but found these two instead: http://toysaregoodfood.com/content/archives/000130.html and http://glampyreknits.tripod.com/glampyrephotos/id35.html
Hope they’re fun to look at. I would love one of your handmade beauties! I’ve been a fan of your site since Trogdor!
February 10th, 2005 at 6:04 am
Wowie, what a transformation! It looks awesome on you. You go girl!
February 11th, 2005 at 10:54 am
Am hesitating to enter because I’e never knit anything that required stitch markers. (I have a fear that they would become a permanent part of the pattern, much like beads which are knitted in.)
But yours are so pretty that that would be a *good* thing.
Please count me in for the contest.
February 13th, 2005 at 6:02 am
Beautious cardigan! Fabby stich markers! Sign me up for the contest. Oh, and happy early Valentine’s Day!
February 14th, 2005 at 12:00 am
I love the sweater! Valentines Day is my favorite holiday and I will be sitting in school tonight, while my parents come over and have fun with my kids. So, I figured I’d try my luck and enter your contest. 😉
