If it does, and you combine it with the image of three girls and SIX HOURS, well, I really wouldn’t blame you for saying, “better her than me.”
Haircuts yesterday went much quicker than I expected and revealed, well, I can’t even type the word. I tried and almost retched.
So, Veronica was already up for a chin-bob-wedge.
She’d been begging me to cut her hair for months.
Liv got talked into it, though if that isn’t a forced smile, I don’t know what is. And that’s before we found the, uh, you know.
We cut 12 inches off of her hair. I measured.
She LOVES it.
Then it was Abby’s turn. Abby was quietly crying on the couch and I asked her to talk about it. She gave the saddest story of how they use school pictures on lunch cards that everyone sees all year long. In second grade, she thought her picture with her short hair was so ugly, and last year, (she smiled a little), her picture was kinda pretty with longer hair.
Mom dies of heartache here, and is SO glad she took the time to listen first instead of insisting (as is her tendency) that the girl get her butt up on the chair for a haircut.
The problem is that Abby has the most sensitive scalp of the lot, and I was convinced she’d spend the entire combing process screaming at me, as is her tendency, when there aren’t bugs involved.
Anyway, today sucked. Last night sucked. And I’m not even done yet. Nate brought thai food. I’m not usually an emotional eater, but I guess that this situation threw me over. Now I’m thinking about ice cream.
I took a brief break this afternoon to knit a little on Abby’s sweater. I’m so happy with it.
Oh, and my bra broke, so I have to go bra shopping again, which is LAAAAAME! And I ripped open the wound on my finger that was supposed to be closed up by now. (I almost cut the end off on Sunday while chopping onions).
Good times.

Poor Miss Finch indeed! I came here via a google search for making stitch markers. I have 4 kids and live in fear of the dreaded nit note from school. I think that I would want to shave everyone down to nothing.
And after all of that to have your bra break. I HATE bra shopping with a passion. After nursing 4 kids, trying to find something that fits and is flattering? Not happening. ( better you than me 🙂 )

Been there, done that, feel your pain. Except I had only two boys with short, short hair and I was not above using kwell shampoo. I know about poison and stuff but I panicked and the boys are OK thirty years later.

I forgot to say the girls do look lovely with their short hair. Hope you feel better now after that bummer of a day.

Your kids are all so lovely. That bob really makes Veronica look older, and I *love* it on Liv – I wish my hair would nicely curl under like that!
I hope things go well with Abby..I can relate to the love of long hair. I didn’t cut mine except for very short trims until I went away to college 🙂

Oh man. We had a scare once and I treated Kyrin just in case. Are you using Olive oil? A friends daughter use to get them ALL THE TIME and straight olive oil is the best thing. Ewww. I totally feel for ya.
The girls look gorgeous with their haricuts!

Oh dear! It is something I too live in fear of. My sister with 3 girls fell prey to the bugs last year – it was definitely hard! I think the good news is you really don’t have to cut hair short to deal with them (see I can’t say it either!) You just have to be hyper vigilant about washing the pillows etc.

Oh noooooooooooo! That’s awful! I don’t even envy you your Thai food. And that’s saying something.

I have to sympathise with you. For the last 3 months my daughter has had ongoing problems with those creepy little bugs. I think a trip to the hairdressers is indeed a must, but I am sure she will cry just thinking about it. I hate having to comb her hair out as it does hurt her after a while, and those yucky chemicals I had to use last time were just the worst. I hope that you dont have anymore bugs to deal with, and the girls look so cute with their haircuts too.

We had a scare recently, and have hoped we missed the buggers.. who knows. But once we knew we had been exposed, all three of my boys got crew cuts…and then the endless washing of sheets. Sure hope we miss it all together.
The haircuts are very, very cute on your girls!

BE PREPARED! One session will likely not be enough with at least one kid. One of my sons got “them” and it took months before we were rid of the things. I washed everything he touched over and over. We spent hours crying and combing (he was 11). Terrrible time for him. Try not to spread the shame– although I’m not sure why so much shame is attached– they feel bad enough with their itchy heads. GREAT haircuts! Much sympathy otherwise. 🙂

Okay, so the haircuts are ADORABLE! They both look so cute with them, and I’ve very glad that Liv ended up liking hers. Also, I hope the treatments work quickly and that “they” don’t come back. Hopefully you caught “them” in the very early stages.
And I hate bra shopping too, so I totally feel your pain there. Sucks that your finger wound reopened!
Finally, I gave a great deal of thought to what you said and have come to the conclusion that no, I’m not wrong about my stance on sandals and socks at all. =)

I went through that experience last year with my one little girl, and to my horror, our “itcy-scratchies” seemed a bit immune to the shampoo we picked up. All I can say is keep combing! Just be grateful you discovered them instead of the school nurse!
