Good morning! I had a great week. I exercised and ate well every day, alternating aerobic and resistance training, and eating my homemade shakes. I feel good. I’ve lost 2.8 pounds. Yay!
I’m taking it easy on the treadmill and walks, keeping to 35 minutes and not full speed, because I don’t want my knee and hip to start hurting again. Hopefully I can lose a little bit of weight this way, and push myself harder when I’m lighter on my joints. I’ve also downed the pounds, upped my reps, and closed my range of motion on weights because my shoulder started hurting last year, and I don’t want that to come back, either.
It’s been easy this week. I haven’t had any cravings, possibly because the shakes are so sweet. Do you think that a body’s craving for sweets is a misunderstood craving for fruit? I seriously can’t believe I’m not craving anything, and the only logical reason I can come up with is that two of my three meals a day are fruit.
Also this week, I’ve started this again.
Ahh, wheatgrass juice. It’s so weird.
How was your week?

I haven’t done ANY exercise. I could blame the weather, but I have an elliptical and membership to a very nice gym. I have however, been eating fairly well. I had a piece and a half of pizza yesterday AFTER I had already eaten a Lean Cuisine. I’m discovering for me food isn’t about hunger. It’s about something else. Regardless, the portion control and mostly better choices have resulted in 1.5 lb loss since the first of the year. It’s not a lot, but it’s something.

I saw your blog on Carol Gilchrist’s list of blogs. I love the Health Group idea. I did well when I went to Weight Watchers, pre-Noah…so I love the idea of a support group. It helps! I tried doing a Yoga Booty ballet DVD this week…hopefully it will kick start me into losing my muffin top, post baby!!! Go Laura!

Hello Laura,
i often read your blog and think it’s great what you do and i enjoy your blog a lot!
I wonder though about the wheat gras drink…why do you do that?? And what does that to you??? Is that about dieting?
I should lose some pounds to but can’t get myself to get the disipline to do so.
I should lose at least 60 pounds. I’m 204 now and 1.62 m long (i’m dutch so don’s know how much in inches it is..)
Great that you lost the pounds!!
Take care.
Valeria.

My buddies and I are all going to start the Cabbage Soup Diet this week. It’s supposed to “reduce” your sweet cravings but I don’t think ANYTHING can reduce mine….

Sounds as though you are back on track with your weight loss. What does the wheatgrass taste like, and do you just blend it and drink it, or do you need to add things to it as well.

Hello Laura,
Congratulations! 2.8 pounds, that’s a lot for a week!! Your Health Group entries are very motivating and I like it that you are so honest about your ups and downs. Thank you for being so open!
About the cravings: I noticed that I only do have cravings when I don’t eat enough fruit. The share of sugar in the fruit seems to keep me happy. Luckily, I do love to eat fruit (should eat more veggies).
Btw, I discovered your blog sometime in 2005 and enjoy reading it a lot – so I thought it was time to de-lurk. I am German and I also do keep a health journal to keep track of my weight, but on paper in private. I hope to get under 220 pound next week…
