What? That doesn’t look done to you?
So I have a zillion ends to weave in before I can begin the duplicate stitched “x’s”. I don’t know if I should block it before or after the duplicate stitching. But the stupid thing is done. When and if I ever do the second argyle stocking, I’m going to knit the whole thing flat until I get to the gusset. It’ll go so much faster and be so much more pleasant to knit. I’ll weave in all the ends up until that point before seaming the back together and starting in the round again.
At least now I know that when I eventually knit argyle socks for myself, I’m going to do them flat. Hard lesson learned, but I learned, and not with toothpick needles.
There are tons of errors in the bottom third of this monstrosity, and I don’t even care.
When it’s really done, I’m going to lay all of the stockings out together and ask you what Clark’s should look like. I still don’t know what I want to do for his.
But don’t even joke about argyle. It won’t be funny.

Hee. But what if we’re not joking? What if we really think that what Clark, in all his babyness and cuteness, will really want IS an argyle stocking?
Also, it’s awesome.

Yeah, Laura! It’s cute even unfinished. I think I would have gotten halfway and quit. Good for you for finishing it….sick baby and all! Maybe Clark’s stocking should be simple stripes!

Oh my – all those weave-ins look daunting! I can’t wait to see the (really) finished product! Hope baby Clark is feeling better. I know what you mean about the constant suckling. Evelyn is finally starting to let up after a couple of weeks of marathon feeding. Poor thing – she’s got a bit of a cold also, and got her first shots today. 🙁 Of course, I’m glad to be getting a few things done while she sleeps it off! I hope to cast on today for the stocking… Leaving it to the last minute as always.

Whoopeeeeee! It’s going to be beautiful! I wonder if there’s some way to make Clark’s tie all of the stockings together. Perhaps a solid or simple stripe with an argyle patch in the middle like your tree and snowflake on the other two? That way it has a teensy bit of argyle to match yours and the stripes to match the girls’. Just a thought.
Oh, and thanks so much for your info on felting my stockings. I think what you said is enough for me not to even bother! You’re a gem!
