I don’t know how long my site is going to be up today. As soon as it came up, I started getting spammed again.
What’cha got?
I ripped the stocking you saw earlier in the week.
and have reknit it, plus some, redoing the cuff.
It’s way better. I’ll modify it further on the next stocking, but I don’t need to frog this one again. I am still unsure as to what exactly I’m doing with this stocking. I’m having some pretty wild ideas, but they aren’t able to be explained, really. I’d need to show you, and I haven’t mapped it out yet.

I think Blogger is being mean right now but I have some progress posted on my site if you can get into it.
About 4″ done now on the first of 4 stockings.

Hey your stocking is looking good. I’m probably near halfway through the top part. Of course its a lot faster when your using size 9 needles and just random striping. I’ll post this weekend. Sucks about your bandwidth, and we were just talking about it.

I finally decided what I will do for mine. I’m using a pattern from the book “Christmas Stockings: 18 Holiday Treasures to Knit.” I’ve decided on the pattern “Hugs and Kisses Aran Stocking.” I ordered Wool of the Andes from Knitpicks in Bare (main color), Amethyst Heather (CC for stocking #1), and Artic Pool Heather (CC for stocking #2). I hope to be able to work on swatches this weekend, but I’ll just have to wait and see how long it takes to ship.
I’m sooo ready to star these, but will just have to be patient! 🙂

Hi Laura:
I am a very beginner knitter.
How hard is it to knit a stocking????
I can knit and purl.
Still trying to figure out other things.
Do you have a pattern you could suggest to me. Thanks and I enjoy your blog very much. Jean

Um, well, I bought a book in the shape of a Christmas stocking. Is that a good start or what? It has patterns (including argyle,) and some patterns for felted ornaments also!

Well, I decided that I’d let my son pick the pattern as it would be an heirloom type gift from me. He chose the Austrian Alpine Treasure stocking from the Christmas Stocking book (see above…)The book recommends that you NOT change the recommended yarn, and it is not a yarn that is easy to come by. I have sent away for a color card from Nordic Fiber Arts. My son wants it in a dark blue, but I need to steer him toward a blue that will show off the stitches, otherwise, what’s the point? So, hopefully by Mon or Tues I’ll have the card in hand and will be able to order the yarn.

It’s great to have you knitting again! I just started a baby blanked for a Premie baby drive for Stephens Hospital. Never thought I’d be doing that, but it is fun! Of course, I am making it too difficult…I think I learned that from YOU!!! I can’t wait to see what you’re designing for stockings!!!
Are you going to make Clarke a Superman Christmas stocking?
As for Health Group, no pounds lost, but clothes are changing and I ordered a nice pedometer today. I’m excited to see & track how much excercise I get a day with all the dogs. I really wanted one years ago and never got around to it!
Good for Nate on the Art work!!! Yay!!! I love it when men do good sneaky things! He’s still the most adorable man! You’re new home looks wonderful!!!
Love,
G

I’m late with my comment about the KAL. We’re just back from vacation, but I posted an update on my papa smurf stocking disaster. Just go look at it and you’ll see what I mean!

Hello!
I’ve ordered my stocking kits from Patternworks! They should be arriving any day! Can I still join your knit a-long?
Thanks for putting it together!
