Thanks for the comments!

I’m loving reading your comments to Saturday’s post. Thank you! It’s very helpful as we try to work out how we want to do breakfast.

As a little follow-up, I’m feeling good. Nate bought a whey protein powder and a vitamin powder at Super Supplements Saturday evening, after we picked up a couple blenders.

Our current blender is connected to my big Bosch mixer, and we figured that if we’re going to be using a blender a couple times each morning, (Nate eats 2 hours before I’m awake), we’d need something a little easier to access, rather than lugging the mixer out of the cabinet each day.

Following Teresa’s advice, I sliced and froze a bunch of bananas yesterday. Nate keeps popping them like candy. They’re good. And I’m looking at soy milk makers, since I intend for most of my shakes to be soy milk based.

I tried making soy milk once. It was a big, smelly mess, and rather labor intensive. I think a soy milk maker would be a good investment, and will undoubtedly save me a ton of money. Soy milk is expensive. We’ve been buying it for years for Abigail, because she’s lactose intolerant, but if I’m drinking a significant portion of it every morning, we’ll end up going through it a lot faster.

Change of topic-

Clark is 4 weeks old today. I still can’t believe how fast the time goes.

I know it’s been awhile since I talked about it, but remember Clark’s blanket? I still love it. It’s been washed and dried a couple times, it’s still gorgeous, and I love the way it feels. I’m going to be knitting with Dale of Norway’s “Stork” again, I’m sure.

I still need to line it, and the flannel I bought mysteriously disappeared in the move. I haven’t lost hope, but it hasn’t turned up yet.

Well, first off, the blanket is adorable! But I have to disagree, I hated knitting stockinette with Stork. Talk about black hole of knitting! So I guess for me its the gauge thing that bugs me.

But I do have a “recipe” for you for the blender. I did the Zone diet years ago, and shakes were a staple for me. I still make them occasionally because I just feel better when I cut back the carbs.

I put one sliced fresh banana, a handfull of frozen strawberries, 2oz of FIRM SILKEN tofu, a quarter cup of ALL BRAN cereal, about 1 to 1.5 cups skim milk (you could use soy milk), and 1 scoop of milk/egg or whey protein powder (I try to get unflavored, but its getting harder to find, so vanilla may be best)
toss it all in the blender, and turn it on 🙂 Add more milk if its too thick for you.

Clark’s blanket looks adorable. I cannot believe its already been 4 weeks since you had him. Time goes so fast. I hope you find your fabric for the blanket.

Wow – I can’t believe Clark is 4 weeks old already! I promise to get that sweater in the mail to you very soon – I keep meaning to make you a nice card to go with it, just haven’t got around to it yet. Your new house looks so awesome – I love the colors of your living room. Green seems to our color of choice there as well. I don’t know much about making shakes for breakfast, but it’s sounding better to me all the time. I do have a book called Super Smoothies which has some nice recipes if you’d like to look at it sometime. This weekend I was at a friend’s house who had a juicer and she made me the most wonderful orange/carrot/ginger concoction. It’s got me thinking about juicing as well.

It’s good to see your site up again–I’ve been running into a “blocked because of excessive bandwidth usage” page, but I think it’s something to do with my computer.

Little Clark is SO ADORABLE! Congratulations to Abigail on her baptism. Yay!

    Laura,

What a sweetie and the blanket so fetching too!

Also I wanted to give you this link to the brand of rice protien I use. This is an errata of sorts, I thought I was using a whey powder made from rice, but I was mistaken.

    (NutriBiotic Rice Protein)

Maybe it would be worth looking at when you need to restock. (Sorry for the promo. But I’m really sold on this product. Mainly because I know that it is utilized more efficiently and that
whey products are often made from milk)

Wow! The boy is 4 weeks?! Time flies! I swear I saw the red lining material on Clark’s birthday – hmmm…let me think and I’ll get back to you on that! Did you check the laundry room? That is where the majority of knitting stuff was that day… Good luck! Let me know when the sewing party is!!!

Well first off, the blanket looks great! And I’m glad you are starting to feel better, settle in, etc. I look forward to hearing what you come up with for smoothies…I usually have them in the summer for breakfast.
I still haven’t quite kicked this cold, so I won’t invite myself over until I do, but I can’t wait to see you and Clark and everyone else, and the new house.

L – have very much enjoyed the lovely photos of baby Clark. I just was amazed by the Superman blankie! Any chance you could share the chart? My husband would just plotz (we are both comic fans) if I made one for our son too!
