I’ve finished the additional length on the right side of the VCC.
And that’s the VCC, for those of you who haven’t been around since the spring. It’s out of the Holiday 2004/05 Vogue Knitting. And it’s gorgeous.
I’m going to finish all three pieces (both fronts and back) up to the armholes, to guarantee they’re the same length, before beginning any armhole shaping.
I think I’m also going to knit a “filler piece” of 3×3 ribbing to go up each side and down the sleeves at the seam point, to assure I’ll be able to wear it when I’m done. After all this work, and frogging, and reworking, I’m going to be wearing this sucker! Then, if I ever do shrink to a happy size, I can take the filler out, re-seam, and still have my sweater! Hopefully, it’s brilliance. We’ll see. I’m just way happy I have an overabundance of this yarn so I can do all of this adding on.

Oh, it’s prettiness incarnate! I can’t wait till it’s done and you get to wear it around. Plus, perfect weather for it.

That’s some beautiful cable work you’ve done.

Looking good … smart idea about the filler panels. It would be a shame to only get a little bit of wear out of all that work!

I bought that magazine to make this very sweater. I fell in love with it. Haven’t started yet. It is too hot here for wool so I guess I need to find some cotton for it. Yours is looking lovely. I hope your insert idea works. Sounds like genius to me. I’ll be back to check on your progress. 🙂

The filler is a great idea – I did this once with a favorite pair of jeans that I had grown out of. I just cut a groovy piece of fabric and ripped out the side seams to put it in – I must have got another 5 years out of those!

The filler is a great idea. That sweater is on my to-do list, and I’m also in the midst of shrinking. I’ll have to incorporate that idea!
