Health Group- Year 2, week 13

More of the same. I’m sorry. I’m sick. I’m still spending the majority of my days in bed. I’ll be happy if I get a shower today, but the smell of shampoo kills me. I haven’t been able to exercise. We bought some produce last night at the store, and I plan to do a lot of juicing this upcoming week. Nate made a delicious juice for me this morning with pineapple, carrots, apples, and celery. It was fabulous. Since I can’t eat on a regular basis, I’m hoping the juice will give me some nutrients. I feel weak from the lack of food, and more importantly, from the lack of GOOD food. Nibbling on crackers, chips, and ice cream just to get a taste in my mouth isn’t providing any strength. I’m going to go drink some water.

How is it going out there?

I’ve been horribly bad! I’ve been in a huge funk and I’ve no right ; I’m hoping it’s all PMS and that “fred” as I call it will go away and stay away for a while as it was here for 3 freaking weeks! We’re trying to go on holiday, and I really want to enjoy it if you know what I mean! Anyway, I’ve been in a funk and really want to help the folks in the Gulf Coast so I am donating my wardrobe away; the Red Cross & Sal Army don’t want it, but the shelters state if they do. I was born in Alabama, it will always mean something to me, I am also going to send some yarn & needles in a specially marked package inside the box. I’m sure they’ll find someone who will benefit from it.

Anyway, I’ve been in a funk, eating tons of junk food – chips, candy – and not a lot of meals, but I have improved the water intake and been good about flossing.

I actually feel a little guilty about the fact that I lost weight this past week as I barely even exercised to boot.. only a little bit though… I’m at 187.5.

The really amazing part has been trying on clothes; I put on a new pair of CK jean shorts that I bought when I was a 14 and never wore as I gained a lot really fast, the tags are still on – not only did I get them on, they buttoned and zipped! Holy cow! They were tight; tight like jeans I wore in high school, but I didn’t have to lie down on the bed to get them sipped or anything! So, I tried on some old fave CK button-fly shorts, size 13, buttoned up fine; they were too tight as my lower abdominals are way too fat, but if I was proportional, I think they’d fit fine!

    How can this be?

Oh, Art still hasn’t said anything indicating he’s noticed and I’m not mentioning. In fact, last week he made a fat comment. How dare he?

The only other thing I can bore you with was that I had an EEG and the testing nurse did reassure me that there was a brain and brain waves emulating out of my head. Hmmm. I swear I saw smoke… hahaha

    Can you stomach yogurt?

  3. Laura Says:

I could for awhile. I think if I tried some other flavors, I might be able to. I still love cottage cheese, but I have to eat it a couple bites at a time.

    Great job, Gayle! Three cheers!

    Hi there:
I’m new to your blog and if I can help…ginger tea worked wonders for me. It got me through 2 pregnancies and 6 months of the worst chemotherapy a person could tolerate. On good days I drank Miso soup and occasionally a light salad with a sprinkling of veryl light oil and vinegar dressing. If you can add ginger to the juice you mention in your post, it’ll work wonders. You’ve had plenty of advice, I’m sure, but I hope my 2 cents will help.
    Hang in there…
    Cheryl

Aww Laura, I hope you’ll feel better soon. I guess the good news is the worst of the nausea usually only lasts for a few weeks… I never got around to try that ginger tip myself, but lots of people say it helps.

I’m doing really good this week. A bit less than a kilo down (about 1,5 pounds if I did my conversion correctly), and I went to a local excercise group yesterday! Today, I’m having my third class of ballet. Tomorrow I suspect I will have achy legs and feel like I’ve been beaten up during the weekend, but I’m still proud of myself for getting excercise done.

No progress this week as far as weight loss, but it seems that the rate is becoming slower now. What I lost in a week before is now more like 3-4 weeks. My upper arms are still too big though, for some shirts I have. I have gotten back to some exercise. I walked on the treadmill several times this week, and my middle son has taken it upon himself to have me start exercises on our Bowflex. Yeah, my muscles are a bit sore today! I am done with the month’s worth of heart monitor, of which I am so glad. But I bet all of that will show nothing exciting at my next Dr. appt. I’m glad you’re at least able to drink juiced mixtures, Laura. Your husband is such a big help.

Hang in there, Laura! Lemon and peppermint eased the nausea somewhat for me, but nothing really makes it go away like the passage of time.

I’ve had a bad week. I’ve been very tired and VERY hungry, so I gave up even trying to count points around Wednesday or Thursday. I couldn’t go to my WW meeting so I don’t know how much damage I’ve done. I did continue to exercise through the fatigue, though. I don’t feel quite as hungry today so maybe I can get back on track.

I got in 3 days of exercise this week which was great – I was going to go to Curves with my mum this weekend, but they were closed so we went on a brisk walk instead. I wasn’t too nauseated with either of my pregnancies, but I did have awful heartburn. The ginger tea helped for that and it was so easy to make – just slice a piece of ginger, put it in a mug, and fill it up with hot water letting it steep for a few minutes. I liked the taste of it too, although some people find ginger to be a bit overwhelming.

    I loooooooove ginger!
