Both sleeves to the VCC are finished, and look like crap, I might add. Re-knitting with wrinkled, frogged yarn is the pits.
Once I get home and block them, they should look much better.
Cable-Eight is finished! Yes, you read that right. It’s DONE, baby! You’ll hopefully get to see her on Friday. I will undoubtedly spend the rest of the week trying to get a decent picture of myself in it.
So, I’m back to Veronica’s Kimono. I haven’t quite run out of yarn yet, so I figure I’ll keep working on it until I do. Then it’ll have to wait until I can get back to my LYS to get more. Fortunately, they still have the yarn, and they’re holding a skein for me. I’ll have you know that the pattern is wrong. I bought the right amount of yarn for the size up from the one I’m knitting, and I still ran out. Not my fault, I tell you.
Finally, I thought I’d show you Abner’s accommodations on the trip.
Poor guy. He’s been a peach about it. We bring his kennel up and put it on the large, covered front porch, then cover it with a wool blanket. He seems to prefer being covered. Because of some serious allergies in the extended family, he isn’t allowed inside, but his kennel sits on the other side of the sliding glass door, so he gets to watch us all week. Like I said earlier, he’s a dear about it. He is so quiet, doesn’t whine or bark at all, and when we let him out, he bounds around happily and chases/chews on the sticks that we throw for him. He doesn’t run off. Quite frankly, despite being kenneled a lot, I think he enjoys being here, too. What a sweetheart.
As it turns out, I haven’t had the nerve to take him to the beach. I’ve discovered that I’m probably the only person alive that respects leash laws, and because of an incident when he was a puppy (when he was on a leash and the other psycho dog that attacked him wasn’t), he is extremely anti-social with other dogs. I just can’t handle the constant stress of worrying about some loose dog showing up and approaching us, because now, I have to worry about what Abner will do. Grrr. Seriously, it’s to the point where every single time I take him out in public, there’s an off leash dog that wants to come over. What is wrong with people?
Ok, ok, I don’t want to end on that note, so I’ll just say again that, “I’M DONE WITH CABLE-EIGHT!!!”

I love the vacation pix!! I’m trying to picture where you are since I grew up in Seattle, but it looks like the dear Pac NW? We’re now in Portland, OR, but Seattle is dear to DH and my hearts. I’m stressed because you’re stressed about making me stitch markers!! Don’t even think about it. YOU’RE ON VACATION!!! Your girls are precious, cute and active, I’m guessing. Thanks for sharing . . . love reading your blog. Like the pic of you w/ Steph Pearl-McPhee @ her appearance in Sea. I have to read her each am for a good laughing start to the day!! REST, DE-STRESS, ENJOY your vacation. I’m inspired and have gotten some beads to use w/your great tutorial on st markers. Thanks, too, for the good thots re my GB surgery from one who KNOWS!! Sis, Barb, relayed your good wishes. Thank you!!

I totally agree with you about leash laws. I have the same problem with my dog. She simply does not like other dogs, no matter how much we try to socialize her. It annoys me almost to no end that people let their dogs roam off-leash on every trail, beach, park etc. and I can’t take my dog to most places because of it. AARRGGHH!
OK, I’m calm now. I can’t wait to see your Cable Eight. I haven’t started mine yet, and it may just wait until next spring now that August is almost over, but maybe I can crank it out quickly for our lovely September weather here in Bellingham.

Yay! Can’t wait to see your Cable 8! It must feel nice to be finishing up a bunch of projects. 🙂 I’m still not done with my sister’s satchel, but I finished both ‘Numbers’ bags in time to photo them for Knitty!

I’m beginning to believe that leash laws should apply to owners, not dogs. Muzzles too, now that I think of it.
We’re in an upscale neighborhood, I have an underground fence. it keeps my dog in, but won’t keep dogs with bad owners out. Double grrrr.
I’m enjoying your vacation, I miss Seattle horrilby. Pittsburgh is nice, but not the same.
Peace!

I didn’t comment earlier on leash laws earlier, but I’d like to now. I’m not a dog owner, and although I think they are cute from a distance they really do scare the living daylights out of me when they come right up and sniff me. I manage to tolerate it if I’m around a friend’s dog, but if it’s some stranger’s dog in some park that is supposed to have a leash law, I feel like screaming. Just thought I’d throw that out there. 🙂

I’m right with you about leashing your dog. Mine is always on a leash, and he is so very friendly and loves to greet people and other dogs. Unfortunately a couple of these dogs attacked him and bit him. They supposedly had the unground fence, but hey, that only works if the dogs have their collars on. I could go on and on about irresponsible dog owners (and unconcerned sheriffs dept) but that’s for another blog.
Looking forward to seeing your Cable8.
