Knitting again! How nice!

Yup, I picked up Veronica’s Kimono yesterday, and completed one side of it! The pattern gets all weird once you divide for the armholes, so I had a big tangle of yarn for awhile, but one side is done, the shoulder stitches are bound off….. and it feels good.

As promised, here are a couple of pictures of my wacky, supposed-to-be-sock yarn.

(Notice my incredibly cool lime-sherbet green linen pants? I bought them for the ocean, and love Love LOVE them)! I twisted the snot out of the singles, because my tendency is to under-twist, then it falls apart when I ply. Not horribly, but enough to annoy me. So I really twisted it. Then, I really twisted the ply. So, it’s probably nearly indestructible now. I don’t know about the functionality.

Since I’m sure you are all dying to see my new wheel again, here’s another shot.

Oh, and it looks like I may have a computer at the cabin after all! Maybe. Nate wants to leave on Thursday, so you should know by the end of the week.

Where oh where did you get those pants! I have been dying for some more summer clothes (oh so tired of the heat).

ps – I was 3 behind you in line at Third Place Books for Yarn Harlot – too shy to say hi then, so… hi!

Wow, that yarn is so cool! I think it would look great as socks – is it too thick, or what? You’re totally losing me with the spinning terms, but I guess I’ll learn more about them over time…

    That is gorgeous yarn!!!

Hehe. Making my own yarn! I can hardly stand it!
    Thanks, everyone :-).

I’m simply convinced we have to get together and just spin and knit…

I’ll share my child-entertaining drop spindles – can teach me how to navajo ply without getting my fingers tangled in the flyer (I swear I’m going to lose one of them one of these days…)

it would just be a blast!

Your yarn is beautiful… I can’t wait to see what it knits up like – whatever it is destined to be, it will be beautiful…

I have a hard time deciding what to use my handspun fibers for – it takes forever before I can really commit to a project for them – and I’ve never really made anything major – Spinning is such a big deal for me – it’s hard to put it into words – that knitting it into something is just hard… (wow, that sounds really goofy!)

anyway – your yarn looks great – you did a fabulous job!

the other thing that Grace loves is when I sit down to spin for a while (white wool usually merino – it’s my fav…) and then let her do the kool-aid dyeing… that’s the other thing that keeps her busy for a while when I want to spin!)
