distracted

I really appreciate the emails and comments answering my questions the past couple of days. Thanks!

While looking through the issue of IK I linked yesterday, I saw another really cute sweater. It’s a kimono that I think has to belong to Veronica. So I swatched for it. I used some Silky Tweed that I had lying around, and it isn’t going to work, but Veronica is already excited for her sweater. I must be restless as I’m looking for new projects and not settling down to any one in particular. I’m sure it’s a phase.

Yesterday was a beautifully sunny day. I played outside for a good portion of it with the girls and Abner. We played with water. Plus, my juicer finally arrived! And what did I do first?

I juiced my wheatgrass! The girls were very excited. They’ve been watching it grow, and hearing me talk about it. They were anxious to try the juice, and can you guess how it was received?

Not well. I thought Liv was going to throw up. Poor kid.

the juice does look a little strange – please take no offence. Its unknown by me that wheatjuice could be drank but i read the benefits on the page you linked to and they were quite amazing. A long as you liked it!
Sorry I cant help you with the yarns – different world here!!! The sweater you chose is real nice.

ugh. That’s how *I* respond to wheat grass… Even though I know it’s good for me.

How about this for the shoalwater shawl?

Poor Liv! What a great photo!

I like the manly sweater in yesterday’s post, too. It will look great on Nate. As for the shawl, I think your photo from a few days ago is great, but I can see how as it grows and the colors lengthen out, it will change patterns. I was looking at Noro’s Kureyon yarns, not Silk Garden. I haven’t used any Noro, so don’t know, just thought Kureyon had better colors.

Ooh that Alpaca that Chelsea posted looks gorgeous! That’s too bad that the Noro didn’t work out… As for the wheat grass I think it looks a little scary when made into juice, but it might be worth drinking a little a day for the health benefits (better than cod liver oil for sure!)

Laura, I have a perfectly drinkable wheatgrass shake recipe for you. I saw it on TV here in Japan – wheatgrass juice, usually in powdered form, is very popular here. To make 2 servings, mix 250g plain yoghurt, one banana, some ground black sesame, kinako (this is ground roast soybeans, a very common ingredient for sweets here, but of course you can skip it if not available) and wheatgrass juice to taste. The recipe asks for wheatgrass powder but I’m sure you can adjust it to you fresh juice. I have had this several times, it is very nice and refreshing, and looks like kiwi shake (because of the black sesame). The sesame and kinako are there not just for taste, but also for their healthy properties, as this is meant to be a really healthy but tasty shake. Give it a try!

PS For extra freshness you could add some mint leaves!
