(stay on target).
I’m very, very close to completing the remaining piece of the VCC.
I hope I enjoy knitting Cable-Eight this much. I have grand plans for some serious modifications to the pattern. More on that tomorrow.
In other news… At church last Sunday, we arrived almost early. This meant we got to sit closer to the front than usual, but more importantly, it meant we got there in time for the soft, padded chairs. This is a good thing. We usually arrive a few minutes late when all the soft chairs and padded pews are taken and we get stuck on the cold, metal folding chairs in the way back. Aside from being less than comfortable, they are also slightly slanted, which means the crayons the girls are coloring with perpetually roll off the back and land in a purse belonging to someone sitting behind us. It’s a pain.
Side note- there was a time, shortly after the girls learned to knit, that the three of us would be quietly knitting in the very back of the congregation, disturbing no one. Unfortunately, they got bored with that. Maybe it’s the excitement of rolling crayons.
Anyway, this last Sunday, being in a different area than usual, we were sitting in front of a really old couple that we don’t usually sit by. They were right behind us, and apparently found the girls entertaining. I received a call yesterday afternoon from the wife, who asked me if I’d like to have the two dollhouses and accompanying furniture that she and her husband made for their grandchildren many years ago, as their grandchildren are all grown. I said yes. Click the link to see what I came home with.

The VCC front looks awesome. I love the fact that you knit in church. Being a pastor’s daughter, I’ve never had to guts to try. One day, one day! Those dollhouses are unbelievable. How sweet of the couple. And the details are amazing. Look at the windows!

the more & more I read the knitblogs, the more and more my cynicism about the niceness of humanity in general fades away. that is SO AWESOME of those people! I think a copy of the second photo should accompany the thank you note 😀

Ok, I didn’t reply all week, so here goes-
MOST importantly..
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Miss Olivia Princess”O” and my dear friend Liv. I love you very much too.
Laura, I hope you have that part of your blog framed and give it to her for her sweet 16th birthday, that is very, very special. The girls are so lucky to have a wonderful Mom=you.
I saw a few things I did like in IK, that sweater being one of them, and the lacy kerchief scarf although I don’t see a KAL happening there. Are you talking about the pink Viennese Shrug or the ribbed one by Pam Allen in the back? I am assuming the Viennese… it is gorgeous. and when I have done better at your Health Group would enjoy making and wearing it.
I agree about the fad/craze. I was very upset about the ponchos – never made one for myself and don’t want to see that happen with the shrugs!
I also really like the one-button cardi and am thinking that is a “to-do” project. (uh-oh, my first real sweater!) Did you show Nate the Spiderman & Batman knit costumes? They’re kept here in Seattle, page 6 in the mag.
Have fun with the Cable-8
I am glad the dollhouses worked out. They are adorable! You are lucky – knitting and coloring in church… I would have gotten my ears boxed – or worse!
