Mine came in the mail yesterday. I wasn’t expecting it, because I hadn’t seen it talked about online anywhere, although I’ve been a bit preoccupied the past week or so. For those of you who’ve seen it, what do you think? I admit to being a bit surprised. It seemed out of character for IK. Something along the lines of, “Just because you can…..” There are a few patterns that I like.
The Isis Wrap is nice.
The Premiere Pullover is probably my favorite, but I’d definitely change the neck.
Go with the Flow socks are lovely, and were designed by a local. Always a plus. I’d really like to meet her someday.
The baby kimono at the back of the mag is striking.
Then I went online and saw Dibs on Ribs made with Kureyon. It’s a bit odd, but I really, really like it.
And I have to say, I love shrugs. PLEASE don’t let them turn into the poncho craze. I’m very put out over that. Ponchos everywhere to the point of being overdone. If that happens with the shrug, I’ll cry. I love them, and I want to make many, many more. Dumb fads. So, getting back to IK, I really liked the pink shrug designed by Pam Allen with the soft ruffles at the 3/4 sleeve. I must make one of those for someone.
The Bolero is cute. I could possibly see it on my sister, but I can’t imagine it on me. And I’ve noticed that, in the pictures at least, they’re much cuter from the side than head on.
Tell me what you liked. What do you want to knit from the Summer issue of IK? Which patterns are going to become the hot knit-alongs?

Oh!!!! what a wonderful ‘teaser’ I am all excited now at the prospect of my copy of Interweave arriving in the mail box! I suppose I will have to wait a little longer here in the Netherlands for it to arrive!!

I love the shrugs. It is scary. I was thinking about the poncho craze too as I was flipping through the magazine. I love the bolero by DB too, but I think it may make me look too stout or stubby.

If I had my own blog, I’d definitely be hosting a shrug-a-long. I love them too. I especially like the ones with the 3/4 sleeves. As for the Interweave, I think my favorites are the Acorn Camisole and Isis Wrap. They would look really cute together. I also like the bed and bath duo, but talk about an expensive and rather unpractical project!

When I first saw the pictures online and then looked through my copy, nothing but the socks really sung to me. That pullover really is starting to grow on me, now. My thoughts are the same as yours – the neck needs some major surgery. Other than that, it looks like a lovely, feminine top.
That and the socks are probably the only things I’d make from this issue.

I don’t think I’ll be making anything other than the socks (come to the Knitter’s Guild tomorrow if you want to meet Evelyn). I liked the Premiere Pullover but also didn’t care for the neck. I wish I could see the buffalo wrist warmers but the photo stinks. I really like the Teva Durham sweater but not on me! Oh, and those Itty Bitty Bears (also by Evelyn) are so cute.

i’m determined to make the teva durham sweater — i think it’s gorgeous. but not in the yarn suggested since wool is a tad hot for summer (ya think?!) but instead i’m eyeing some rowan summer tweed…

For my money, IK is still the strongest subscription knitting magazine. However, although all the patterns in this issue were nice, I got the feeling of too much of the same thing in one issue. That said, I’ve already cast on for the socks and I think the ribbing at the top is really clever.

I am so jealous — I haven’t gotten my IK yet but I guess that is a good thing since I am really busy today (or should be. But I just love that Dibs on Ribs sweater.
The funny thing about ponchos is that I don’t see them at school/university but the soccer moms and kids are all over them. I guess that’s the hallmark of the end of a craze. It’s really funny that shrugs are back so soon since they were only popular about 5 years ago (my MIL wore one to our wedding) but I think they are much cuter and more functional than ponchos (and they blend in more so even when they become “out” you could still wear one easily.
I’ll be sitting by my mailbox!

I am in love with the cabled baby booties, that’s all I’ll make from this issue.

Hi
I’m in for the Dibs on Ribs, I’m actually looking for a Kal.
Otherwise I’d be delighted to host it.
Happy knitting and let me know about it.

I started Dibs on Ribs on Sunday. (One picture on my blog so far.) It’s such a great pattern!
