Shana is knitting a gorgeous cabled cardigan from the Holiday 2004/5 Vogue Knitting magazine. I really like it, so I dug through my mags and found the pattern.
I’d make it zippered instead of buttoned, and I’m not so sure about those upper pockets. I think it’d look great made out of the yarn I bought for Cable-Eight. Hmmmmm.

I’ve been thinking about making it zippered too. (Great minds think alike! Hee.) I was talking to another knitter during lunch yesterday and telling her how I think I’d really like a zipper better than buttons. I’ve also omitted the pockets on mine because I never use the pockets on cardigans and coats anyway.

Oh, man… I forgot about that one! A zipper would be perfect! Good idea to lose the upper pockets.

THAT’s gorgeous! I’ll start one in -50lbs. I agree on the upper pockets. Besides, I was told back in school that “amply chested ladies should not wear pockest on their bosoms, it makes them look larger” yeah, whatever. I do think they would distract from the pretty cables as the pocket tops might flare.
So now what are you going to Cable-8 in?

That cardigan is beautiful! Is there another way to get the pattern? I was at Barnes & Noble this afternoon and they no longer had that issue. I suppose I could email Vogue Knitting about it…

I swatched for this sweater too! I was going to make this without the pockets until I found the cable cardigan on the cover of Debbie Bliss Book 4.
