That my grandmother is Cinderella! That’s right, read it and weep. I’ll tell you how I know. Remember how the ENTIRE kingdom tried on the glass slipper before Cinderella was found, and it didn’t fit a single soul until her? She had a dainty, tiny little foot that was smaller than everyone else’s in the land.* Well, as I try to find someone that wears a size 6 1/2 shoe (like Cinderella herself), I’m not having any luck. I feel like the Grand Duke. But HE didn’t have the internet… HAHAHA! Therefore, this question is posed to those of you who I know personally, that live local. Do any of you have a size 6 1/2 foot, that would be willing to try on grandma’s sock and tell me if it fits? It would make me sooooo happy!
*I wear a size 10. I used to wear size 9 to 9 1/2, so either my feet are growing, or (my theory) sizes are shrinking. While admittedly, my feet are bigger than most every female I know, size 6 1/2 is dang small. Then there’s the issue of the beautiful princess having pretty little feet, and the ugly stepsisters having very large feet. Thanks for that. Did I need another reason to feel like an oaf?

Laura dear, I have size 11 feet! I guess that makes me an uglier step sister than you.

What a beautiful sock and I bet it (they) will fit. Thanks so much. Love to all.

My feet keep getting bigger. My mom says it’s because I refuse to wear uncomfortable and too small high heel shoes. 😉 I never understood why women’s shoes should be so awful to wear! I’m pretty sure all the designers are male, and they never have to wear the things they come up with…
By the way, a couple of friends have started ballet as adults, and they claim their feet have shrunk a size or so as a result, probably because they have been training muscles they never knew they had in their feet. I mean actual feet, not the legs…

put me in the big feet, getting bigger category as well! now an 11, i was a 9 1/2 or 10 prior to having the child. while pregnant they were up to 12!! but about 2 years after birthing sophie, they went down to 11 and have stayed there. my mother insists it is because i wear shoes as infrequently as possible and when i do, they are broad, clunky things like doc marten’s and birks.

I’m with the rest of you – I was a size 7 – 71/2 for forever and after giving up on the sexy heels and uncumfy office pumps for every day wear and going with the comfy and good-for-your-feet shoes and birks, they have finally relaxed to their real size of 8-81/2.
I do have a friend who wears a 5-6, but she’s in upstate New York – not much help, sorry. Funny thing, though. When she went into the Army, she had to wait 8 weeks for her boots to arrive as they were a custom order and got to do training camp in tennies.

I DO! I have size 6 1/2 feet!
Now we will have a seriously real and very important reason to meet up! 🙂

Oh, darn. I was hoping to be the first! I’m a recent reader and I have size 6 1/2 feet. But since I’m all the way down in San Diego I’m not sure it’d be practical to offer them as grandma-mannequins… but hey! Why not? 🙂
BTW, for whatever reason, I ended up on your site and fell in love with the Kathmandu shrug. It’s lovely!

I have what used to be considered “normal” size feet (8), but when I became shorter I was unhappy to find out I now have big feet (most people around 5 feet tall have size 5 1/2 shoes, I have come to determine). So unfortunately I don’t fall into “Cinderella” or “normal” anymore. Darn! Hope you find a good sock model! I made socks for my dad without a model, and I hear they are too big!
P.S. I love the Kathmandu shrug too!

I’ve read your blog a while, stalker-style without commenting. But, I must share my big-footed woes and a bit of hope. Last September I had to wear heels for a dance and found that my size doesn’t exist in womens. At 15 years old, my size shoe does not exist. So I wore one size down and was miserable. At said dance (which was in October) I shared my big-footed woes with my date and he proudly whipped out a calculator and used math to show how beautifully proportioned my feet were.
it was… geeky, but beautiful.
there is still hope.

Your feet, ears and nose never stop growing. It’s normal to gain in foot size at some point during your life. And I’m a size 10.

Emily, I love your story! This is a guy worth getting to know better. He understands the importance of feeling good about yourself.

My mum is the UK equivalent of a 6 1/2, but unless you want to bundle your sock and send it to deepest, darkest Surrey in England, this is not going to help you! My mum’s about a foot shorter than me, a stone lighter, and she has nice little feet, not horrible, nubbly ones like mine! Sigh.
Your socks are lovely.

On the feet front, somthing that no one has mentioned, is that feet grow during pregnancy. I believe it’s the Oxytocin that loosens up the cartilage holding the front of your pelvis together, so the baby can pass thru more easily (“easily” is a term I use loosely). It also affects the other cartilage in your body. Since you have tons of little bones in your feet, all held together with *cartilage*, and you usually gain weight during pregnancy…it puts a lot of pressure on that cartilege and you feet can get flatter and wider.
I find I can wear the same size shoe if I get it in a wide. So I am assuming this is what happened to my feet. I am a size 10 regular, but a 9 or 91/2 wide.
Oh, and I love the socks! They are a beautiful blue!

Emily, that is SO cool!
Thanks for the support everyone :-).

Hi Laura – I wear a 6.5/7 and live in Seattle, if you can’t find anyone else. I haven’t been to purlygirls in ages, but we can make it happen. I used to be a 6/6.5, but gained some weight in college and a half-size with that. But lemme know if you still need assistance. 🙂
