After hearing some interest, I’ve decided to host a knit-along for the Cable-Eight Top in the new IK (pictured in yesterday’s post). Anyone up for it? Nate will make a button here pretty quick, and I’ll get the sidebar ready. I have a lot going on for the next week, so it may take a little while…. How ’bout we set a start date for March 1st? Sounds like fun!
And while I know that spinning pictures are not too exciting, particularly if you don’t spin, I promise not to flood my posts with them. However… I wanted to show you something.
Here’s my first bobbin, spun two years ago
and here’s what I spun, with the same roving, on Wednesday
Well look at that! For those of you who don’t know, I spun three of those top bobbins two years ago, gave the borrowed wheel back without any intention of touching one again, but decided at the end of last year that I wanted to give spinning another try. I spent two and a half hours with a wheel a month or so ago, then took a 6 hour class on Saturday. It doesn’t take long to improve. Now before I get too giddy, I must remind myself that nothing has been plied. It all may very well fall apart on me, BUT, on the bobbin, it’s looking better!
We have some Hayden news! Carrie has posted a picture of her Haydens! Don’t they look like they’re having fun? I loved her commentary. Good job, Carrie!
My web host sucks. I’m so tired of them, let me tell you. Many of you will know what I’m talking about, as my site has been down for the last 12 hours, and they don’t have 24 hour support. It has been very frustrating. But for now, we’re back, and I think Nate’s irritated enough that we might do something about it.
And on a personal note- Hi Joey! I received your email/comment and was thrilled to hear from you. I’ve been trying to email you ever since, and it keeps bouncing back to me. I don’t know why, but I wanted you to know that I’ve been trying! Love ya, and congratulations!

Hi Laura, Just wanted to say thank you. I just finished a Hayden hat out of Elann’s Uros in periwinkle, dusty purple, mauve, palm, and watercress. I LOVE it, kept stopping in progress just to fondle the thing. I think I am addicted. I’m daydreaming about color combos and for whom they will be appropriate. THANK you for publishing the pattern.

I’m in for the knit-a-long! I’ll definitely use a cotton to make it wearable in Atlanta in the Summer. I love the spinning…keep up the good work!

The tank top looks like it would be fun to knit – I like that it sort of has capped “sleeves” which would cover my too-round shoulders. I think I’d participate in the knit-a-long… I just have a few other projects going at the moment. 🙂 Hoping to start the Meema’s Tote tonight!

Who’s up for it? I’d be up for it. When would it start?

Well! It looks like you’re spinning your wheels and making wonderful progress at the same time, haha! I must be out of synch with most others, I guess. I thought the cutest thing in the new Interweave Knits was the adorable little old man modeling the vest! What a cutie! As for everything else, the only other thing I liked was the Flowered Waistcoat.

I just might be up for a Cable-Eight knitalong. I have some bulky cotton yarn in the stash that might work, and I’m definitely in the mood to start thinking spring!
(Meantime, I s’pose it’s high time I got back to my Hayden Hat already, eh?!)

Hi Sis,
I guess I need to get my e-mail straighten out. How’s my brother in law and neices doing. Your oldest nephew(chip) is 5′ 10 and 160lbs 13 yrs., Willie is 67lbs. at 7 yrs., and Deanna is 76lbs at 5 yrs. The little ones are chest high(I’m 5’8″) and growing fast. Shannon is busy homeschooling our kids and wishes you well. I still can’t believe you’ll be 30 in May. I remember when you were in mom in Rowland Heights. I’ll be 37 in Nov. I’d better get back to work, I just thought I’d say hi
lovingly,
joe
