Are you bored yet?

image

I am. I enjoy the knitting, but this is truly taking forever, and my sights have long been set on new things. I can’t wait to see this sweater on my mom, and I’m determined to get it done as soon as possible. There is a considerable line up of new projects behind it. The following is definitely NOT in any semblance of order.

1. I’ve found some yarn I want to use to make the Flower Basket Shawl from the Fall IK. I think I’m even going to get my friend Gayle to knit along with me. Any other takers? I know there was another knitalong for this project, but it looks to me like it’s closed to newbies. Mine will be an informal knitalong, for sure.

2. My sister-in-law wants a poncho, and I’ve already bought the yarn and swatched for it. She’s moving in a month, so I’d like to have it at least started before she goes.

3. My brother-in-law that resides in Italy wants a satchel-type bag thingy with a strap. I’m going to have to make it up, and he won’t give me specifics on what he wants. He asked for it at the beginning of August.

4. I have promised, and still really want, to host a REAL knitalong for my Slipped Garter Stitch Hats. (Although it needs a better name. Any suggestions?). I’m wearing mine as I type. It is my own pattern, (except for the stitch itself, which came from a book. But the hat is mine), and I love, LOVE, LOVE the thing. Now that it’s chilly outside and in, I need it in a few more colors so I can wear one everyday. It’s amazingly comfortable, amazingly cute, and I really like it, too. :-).

5. I want to knit and felt Nate a pair of clogs. I’d like a pair for myself while I’m at it.

6. I’d like to finish my daisy swatch/scarf (see sidebar if curious)

7. I’d like to knit the Frost Flowers and Leaves shawl I blogged about last week. Oh, and the Lily of the Valley shawl, can’t forget that.

8. I have a bunch of beautiful, brown Icelandic Lopi wool marked for a cardigan for myself.

9. I promised Veronica I’d make HER a poncho, considering she’s the only female in the house without one.

10. There’s Olivia’s and Veronica’s dolls.

11. Socks.

and, and, and……. ok, I’m done. I’m sure that if I continued thinking, I could come up with at least 20 more, but that’s just depressing, so I’m stopping here. There are undoubtedly some I’m forgetting, and I’ll remember them in an hour or so I’m sure.

Last night, while at my in-laws house, there was a magnificent rainbow.

Whenever you’re ready, I can’t wait to knit one (or two or three) of your Slipped Garter Stitch Hats. Such a great looking hat and love your color choices.

    That rainbow is gorgeous!

I just cast on for Flower Basket shawl last night. The beginning of the pattern is really confusing to me with the crochet chain and the picking up of stitches, etc. So I hope I’m doing it right! We’ll see 😉

Hmmmm….I seem to recall saying that a rainbow is following you around!
I would like to knitalong with the “flowerbasket shawl”. I’ve been eyeing that up since I got the magazine, and even have it in mind for a gift, so this would get me in gear, haha! I am joining in with “The Mother Bear project” over on this blog http://bloominknitiot.blogspot.com/
take a look-see. Gee, perhaps you could even have a “best friends” dolls knitalong. Maybe by now, enough people have sent away for their copy of the magazine, and can join in!! My to-do or want-to-do list goes on as well!

HA! You DID! I forgot about that.

Glad to have you along for the Flower Basket Shawl. I’ll be happy to post your pictures if you’d like.

    Carrie- good luck

Laura-M- I know. You’ve been SO patient. I would post the pattern now, but I really need to knit it again before I can. I didn’t write much down the first time. I’m going to do it though, like I said, I need a few in some different colors. I only have the pink/gray one. The others are sized for the girls.

Patient? I sheepishly thought I’d been rather pesky, so I’m glad you thought otherwise 😉 I guess you know who to call if you ever need a test knitter 😉 Seriously, though, don’t hurry – you’ve got a lot of other wonderful projects in the works.

Hi – I enjoy your web site. If you start a knitalong for your slipped garter knit hat, please let me know. I would like to join. Very cute!

Nice shot! I love rainbows! We were having a family discussion about the Promise of the Rainbow just the other day!
To me, the hat inspires a name after a series of movies (and books, mustn’t forget the books!) I know you enjoy. Let’s see… They are knit in circles, or RINGS, and there are a lot of colors interacting and weaving together, another word for that might be…hmmm….FELLOWSHIP…certainly if you have a knit-along that would be FELLOWSHIP…hmmm…..

I really wasn’t planning on doing the shawl right away, never mind the fact that I set up my umbrella swift last night and the yarn I bought at your knitting group sits upon it, awaiting to be wound. I’ve never done a knit-along and it does sound like fun! Who will finish last? Gee, I wonder???

Hi Laura, I just wanted to say how much I enjoy reading about your knitting adventures. (I have never added comments to a blog before…..so this is my ‘new thing’ for today…how exciting). I chanced across a satchel-style bag pattern today on the Interweave Knits website in their free patterns section. They call it a “Monk’s Travel Satchel” and is designed by Vicky Square. I thought you might be interested as an idea for the bag requested by your brother-in-law. I’m going to make one for my hubbie as a Christmas surprise! Ciao for now! 🙂

I would love to join a knit along for the slipped garter stitch hat; it is beautiful. My 6 year-old daughter has been patiently waiting for a new winter cap and I think this fits her tastes perfectly. Please let me know when you start the knit along.
