More sleeve

That’s all. Just sleeve knitting. While it is faster than the body, it is still slow going. Plus, I’ve decided that I hate sleeve increases. I don’t know exactly why. There is no logical reason, but I hate them. I never space them right. And in ribbing, it’s harder to see where I increased last, so as to know where the next increase row should be. I know, I’m whining. It’s just that as I was knitting today, I remembered how much I hated the sleeve increases on Nate’s Manly Sweater, which is the only other sleeved sweater I have knit, and I realized that it must be the process, not just this sweater.

Wanna see what I want to knit now? I realize that I do this. I show a picture of a lovely, stating I want to knit it, and then you never see nor hear of it again. Well, Savannahchick was blogging about one of my favorite drooling books recently, and I had to go to my bookshelf and look at it once again. From this book, I have knit this….. (except mine has the optional eyelet panels).

I even wear it. It is beautiful. Mine is a fabulous cranberry red, and I have yet to figure out how to adequately photograph it which is why you’re getting the book shot. What I want to knit now is this….

LOVE it! It would take FOREVER! And there’s still the Lily of the Valley shawl that I’ve swatched for, but need to buy the remaining yarn to knit. Lace is tremendously enjoyable to knit, and a heck of a lot more difficult that sleeve increases. Don’t ask me what my problem is.

I’m with you on the sleeve increases. For me, lace presents it pretty little face – I can see, usually, where the holes need to go.

But sleeves…it’s like there ought to be an alarm or something.

    “HOLD ON!

YOU ARE NOW ON THE INCREASE ROW!

YES, IT’S BEEN THREE ROWS SINCE THE PREVIOUS INCREASE, AND THIS IS ONLY NUMBER NINE OUT OF FOURTEEN INCREASES.

    KNIT ON BUT INCREASE!”

And then there should be an alarm at the END of the row, too.

Back to my lace knitting. Thank you for the venting.

Since I am just a totally novice knitter and don’t know a darned thing, I am going to ask a stupid question…
Why don’t you just mark the increase with one of those little open circle thingy’s when you make it, then you’ll know? Then you can pull it off when you make the next one and move it up. May sound dumb, but it takes out the guess work!

BTW- while I love the COLOR of the blue in the shawl picture from the book and it is gorgeous as it is one of my favorite shades of color…

YOUR RED SHAWL KICKS BUTT over it a million times! You really nailed the color on what that called for and it is breathtaking!!!

Sigh…I’m at work and I was looking at the shawl and reached for my hard boiled egg and stuck my hand in a cup of cream of wheat. Anyway…your red shawl sounds gorgeous, and I’m really impressed. That lace looks really hardcore.
