Significant pain

I’m only writing a blog post right now because I’m trying to kill time before I leave for the doctor in an hour, and all I have the strength to do is writhe and moan. Time crawls when you’re doing nothing but writhing and moaning. So hopefully, by posting, I’ll be a little distracted.

That back pain that showed up on Thursday stayed with me all weekend. I managed it with Tylenol and Advil, and now it’s worse. I called the doctor and they said I might have a kidney infection. I’m miserable. It hurts so bad I’m nauseated.

Anyway, Nate and I had a fantastic weekend, except that neither one of us slept well on that miserable mattress. We both woke up at least 4 times a night, mine made worse by the back/potential kidney pain. And that’s totally unfair, because Nate’s main objective this weekend was to get some good sleep, and I was looking forward to the same, not having Clark to wake me.

I finished knitting the sampler purse, now I need to attach an icord strap.

It sucks in at the bottom, as a result of my getting better with holding the yarns and maintaining tension as I progressed. I have to keep telling myself that it doesn’t matter, because it was a sampler purse to learn a technique. It still bugs me. But it’s pretty.

And that’s all I can write. I have to go lay down. If it gets much worse, I’m not going to be able to drive myself to my appointment, and that would be horribly inconvenient.

I have zillions of pictures from the weekend that I can’t wait to share, once I get my wits back and this pain goes away.

Oh wow Laura, I hope you start to feel better soon, and that you’re able to drive to the doctor’s. If it is a kidney infection, hopefully that will be cleared up quickly and with very little pain soon too!

I am glad you had a good time in Forks though, despite the crappy bed.

The Sampler purse looks great; I’m going to have to have you teach me to knit like that. Eventually.

Oh, you went to Forks? I’d love to hear if you saw any Twilight related sights 🙂

I am really sorry you are in so much pain, and doubly sorry that it happened during your weekend away! What miserable timing. I hope that you make it safely to the doctor and they can give you medicine to make you feel better right away.

Also, the sampler purse is lovely!

Oh, I am so sorry about the pain!!! I totally know what you are going through because I did the same thing and ignored a UTI several months after Nathan was born. I just kept drinking cranberry juice thinking my immune system would fight it and it was fine for a few days… but then BAM – excruciating pain in my back and I ended up having to stay in the hospital until the antibiotics kicked in. They told me I was lucky I didn’t have serious kidney damage! Now I don’t mess around when I think I have a UTI – I just get tested and get the drugs, but there are a few ways to prevent getting them altogether including drinking cranberry juice. Once it’s there though, I don’t think it will go away on it’s own…
Your sampler is beautiful and I’m very sorry you didn’t have as relaxing a weekend as you’d hoped. I’m loving all the knitting you’ve been doing lately though!

Oh owie. I had a bladder infection move up to my kidneys once. I totally remember the pain. Ouch. I’m so sorry!! I can also relate to the crappy beds while on vacation. What’s up with that? I couldn’t sleep AT ALL when we went to Sequim in the summer.

I hope you are feeling better and that they give you some of the good drugs to help with the pain. Bring on the drugs. Sometimes I am more than happy to take them too…..like for kidney infections!

    Get better soon!!!
