Oooo, pretty!

image

That, my friends, is my new kitchen floor. I might end up getting the flu from exposure to the contractor, but as for right now, I’m happy, and I have a kitchen floor.

We had to push off showings until Saturday (whine, sigh, pout), but things are finally looking up. The carpet cleaners should be here any minute. Housecleaners are coming tomorrow, SCORE! I don’t want to do the housecleaning stuff. I’ve worn myself out doing all the other stuff and the best part is, my realtor is paying for it!

No cabinet scrubbing for me.

The contractor is working on his last project, which is small. Most everything is packed. Nate FINALLY has a day he can take off to help, so he’s assisting.

(Scratch that, his phone just rang, and he’s going in to the office).

(Scratch THAT, he got it done at home. Score!)

Pretty soon, all I’ll have to worry about is whether or not anyone actually buys our house. How quick it happens, and then waiting around to see if their financing comes through.

Oh, and I’ve started throwing up again. Twice now in three days. I CANNOT bring myself to eat.

It’s all I can think about

Once again, as I was taking a hot shower last night (showering is still a challenge for me. I feel for those I live with), all I could think about was the deep, jetted tub in the master bathroom of the new house.

image

(This is, admittedly, not a picture of the bathtub. I don’t have one, but this is the promotional picture of the master bathroom, so I got you close. It’s groovy, isn’t it? Except for the mirror, which I don’t like at all).

The bathtub I am buying but cannot yet use torments me each time I shower. Probably because I’m so freaking tired, that I want to be laying in hot water, not standing in it.

Our current shower is in a bathtub, but it’s one of those standard, shallow tubs that, while it may work for some is hardly adequate for a very tall, very large lady like me. Particularly now that my stomach is significantly 7-months-pregnant-bigger than it even is normally.

Yeah, my BUTT and my FEET might be in warm water, but that’s about it.

Still, in my desperation last week, I tried it anyway. Unfortunately, I had already spent about 30 minutes in the shower, trying to decide if it was even worth it, and by the time I made up my mind, and about 3 inches of water accumulation later, the hot water ran out.

So I cried and went to bed.

My neighbor had some guys he knows come out yesterday to move appliances out of and prep my kitchen floor. They also re-installed our second toilet. Yay! All in the hopes that my contractor with the flu would be able to make it back out today. He phoned this morning and said that he could come, but he’s coughing and flemmy, and was concerned for my health in my delicate condition.

Valid concern, thank you, but I need a floor.

So, V and I are banished from the house once he arrives, and I hope he’s able to get a lot done while we’re gone, running the zillions of errands I’ve been neglecting all week as I’ve been packing and cleaning and stressing.

I have carpet cleaners coming tomorrow morning, and I need to be finished with the cleaning, dusting, and packing by tomorrow night before the walk-throughs start on Friday. At which point, I’m hoping to have found a kind soul that will let Veronica and I crash at their house for the day.

I’m SO TIRED!

Happy Valentine’s Day

These are the girls’ Valentines this year. We printed up a ton of them, and they wrote on the back and taped on a sucker.

I’m pretty proud of myself.

Happy Valentine’s Day to you all. I was half out of my wits yesterday with fatigue while at the store, and bought way too many sweets.

Enjoy the day! Here’s hoping my contractor has made a miraculous recovery. And if I’m counting right, I only have one more color of paint to touch up!

I’m exhausted

We had our pre-listing inspection today. Fortunately, nothing major came up, which thrills me to no end. I was paranoid.

Our “work party” went well on Saturday. The extra furniture and packed boxes are all moved out, and the men cleaned out our 700 square feet of blackberries which makes our already big yard (although still ugly) seem even bigger.

Nate and I went on a cleaning/packing frenzy last night after the kids were in bed which, while it wore me out, did wonders for my mental state.

Now the kicker…

My contractor that has been working on, and is not finished with the bathrooms, and who was supposed to start on my kitchen floor today has the flu.

We are set to list on Wednesday, with walk-throughs starting on Friday, open house on Saturday, barely over a month remaining ’til we move, and I have no idea when my house is going to be put back together.

There is still a toilet in one of my bathtubs.

Is this THE flu? Will it be a 1 day flu? Is there such a thing? When I think of the flu, I think of being flat out for 2 weeks, recovering for another month afterwards because that’s what happened to me.

I want to cry, and I’m sure that once I finish my list of things to do today, and I’m able to sit and rest, I will cry. I’ve already come close.

I’m getting so burned out. I’m tired. I’m being very careful not to lift anything heavy and hurt myself, but I’m staying plenty busy, and it’s wearing me out. The emotional drain contributing, I’m sure.

Plus, I still can’t eat without discomfort. I had a grilled cheese sandwich today for lunch, and it HURTS!!!

Health Group- Year 2, week 36

It’s been a completely busy day. We got a ton accomplished, with much help from our friends. Thanks to all who came! (Hayden).

I’m hanging in there. Not exercising, but doing a lot to get ready to move. How are you?

Thoughtful husband

Nate bought me a present. Some of my shoes require a shoe horn to get into, and as it’s getting more and more difficult to reach my feet…

Check that thing out!!! I can put on my shoes while standing up, hardly bending over at all!

Nate’s so cool.

The roof is done!

Hooray!

Now, we’re just waiting for the bathrooms and kitchen floor to be finished.

image

But it’s getting better! I think the toilet will make it out of the bathtub today in this bathroom, and then we start on the 2nd bathroom which shouldn’t be nearly as bad.

The kitchen comes next, but there aren’t any toilets involved there.

We’re having a (hopefully) big clean up/moving work party on Saturday, that Nate hasn’t informed anyone about yet. I hope we get helpers. We’re having one of those enormous dumpsters delivered today, and the dumb gray couch in the family room, that I’ve always hated, is going in first. Now that it’s lost its spring, it no longer serves a purpose and can go away guilt free.

Tuesday night, I had my first baby shower of the season. The moms in Olivia’s class at school threw a shower for me and another mom expecting a boy around the same time, who happens to be a friend also.

image

I now have significantly more little sleepers! This is a good thing. I now have a diaper bag as well. Also good. And I have to say, having never been to a “double” shower before, it was tremendously fun. Betsy and I both sat on the red, suede couch, opening our matching presents. I can’t exactly articulate why, but it was so much more fun than doing it alone.

There’s a HOLE, there’s a hole…

There’s a hole in the bottom of the floor.

Lack of desire

On Thursday, I bought a bunch of red Red Heart for the baby’s Superman blanket. I did some swatching.

image

Sigh.

It’s just not fun to knit with. I might just be too distracted with house stuff to really settle in and get a groove, but, I’m not feeling motivated to try.

I was super-productive yesterday and this morning with spackle, paint, and phone calls. And yesterday, I managed to eat three good meals! My stomach is still very much bothering me today, so I’m making some iced herbal tea, and I’m hoping that will get me through.

Today, I need to texturize, paint, pack, and make more phone calls. And possibly nap.
