No more frogs!
Well, I am hoping that we’ve seen the last of the frog pond for the Vogue Cable Cardi. Last night at a school meeting I frogged the back armholes onto a niddy noddy, and began re-knitting with fresh yarn. Both of the fronts are knit up, ready to begin armholes. I think I’m in for another day of knitting today because despite the rest I got yesterday, I’m still completely exhausted. I took Veronica to the grocery store and then out to lunch, came home, made dinner in the crockpot, and was wiped!
Which reminds me… I know some of you are interested in good crock pot recipes, and let me tell you, I just found another one. Yu-mmy! It is a hamburger and barley soup, with some minor modifications. Here’s my version.
1 lb. ground turkey (not turkey breast, just plain ol’ Foster Farms ground turkey)
1 medium onion, chopped (I used dry onion flakes. They’re easier).
45 or so ounces of beef broth. (I used Swanson’s organic beef broth that comes in a carton. No scary ingredients in that one).
1 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes in heavy puree.
3 carrots, sliced
3 celery ribs, sliced
8 heaping Tbsp dry barley (Mmmmm. Love barley).
1 bay leaf
1 tsp dried thyme leaves
1 Tbsp dried parsley leaves
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp fresh ground pepper
Brown ground turkey and drain.
Put everything in crock pot, and cook on High 3 hours or on Low 6-8 hours.
Yum, yum, yum! We ate it with a loaf of french bread. Everyone hoarfed. Abby ate two bowls. I would have too, if my stomach even resembled itself, but it doesn’t. Eating is still extremely difficult for me.
Mom’s clogs (remember those?) were finished while she was visiting, but we didn’t get a picture, so as soon as she sends me one, you’ll get to see them. They turned out SO CUTE!!! And I noticed that the medium size (the one that fits a size 8 women’s shoe) isn’t as freaky wide as the women’s large is. Or the men’s medium. It was a much easier felting job.
I am, of course, talking about the Fiber Trends Felted Clogs pattern, knit with Lamb’s Pride. Picture soon. I promise.
