Health Group- week 47

Look at me and my bad self! I’m pretty happy with what I’m able to report this week. Yes, I’m down a couple pounds, but I’ve been jumping around quite a bit, so that’s not a big deal to me. Tomorrow, I might be up three, who knows? BUT, I got to exercise this week. Not only that, but I FINALLY DID WEIGHTS! I’m SO happy.

Monday, I did 50 minutes of treadmill, PT, and weights.
Tuesday, I did the same.
Wednesday, my foot hurt, and I was extremely tired from being up late two nights in a row. So I did nothing.
Thursday, my foot legitimately hurt, but in all honesty, I couldn’t put my Flower Basket Shawl down. So I did nothing.
Friday, I did 50 minutes of treadmill, some of my PT, and then weights while rocking out to Bon Jovi. (I haven’t listened to them in about 15 years. It was way fun).

Today, I intend to do treadmill, PT, and weights again, which will bring my total to 4 days of exercise and weights this week. I am very happy with that! Woo Hoo!

I need some excitement, because after being sick and stationary for much of the past two months, my pants are getting tight. I’m having none of that.

How did you do? Our friend Jenny had a good week. Let’s hear about it! Anyone else?

Health Group- week 46

The good news is that I’m feeling better! I think I’ll be able to start up with the exercise next week. I’m looking forward to it.

This week, I didn’t do any aerobic exercise. I’ve been doing my PT, which does wear me out. I’m getting stronger. My back is feeling better. Things are good.

This week, I ate a lot of homemade hummus. Before I got my hands on some EXCELLENT pita chips, I was eating it on stalks of celery. Mmmmm. That was good. The pita chips are good, too.

What I love about hummus: (aside from the fact that it’s yummy).

I can make it from scratch. I love cooking things from raw materials. Soaking and cooking beans, etc. It’s fun.

The ingredients store well. Dry garbanzo beans, tahini, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt…. All of these things can be kept and stored, so if I ever get the jones, I can make it without having to run to the store.

It’s healthy. I haven’t done a lot of research, just some quick reading, but it’s supposed to be way good for me. And, according to my M-I-L, garbanzo beans have some of the same vitamins that grean leafy veggies have. She’s on blood thinners, and has a list of foods she can’t eat. Unfortunately for her, hummus is one of them. I take that to mean it’s quite good for me!

It is both a snack AND a meal! If I want a little snack, it does the trick. If I keep snacking, I’ve got a meal out of it.

It fills me quick, and I stay full for a long time. Aren’t beans GREAT?!

Health Group- week 45

I did the best I could this week. I ate better than I have in a long time. I did 50 minutes of treadmill on Tuesday and Wednesday before I got sick again. This time, the offending illness is a head cold. Last time, it was in my chest with flu symptoms, so at least it’s something new. I guess. I weighed in at 222 this morning. That’s better than the 224 earlier this week.

How are you doing?

I bought Tahina last night so I could make Hummus. I’ve only eaten Hummus, like, once. I had it for the first time last weekend, and it was yummy. I’m thinking that it could be a good, new food for me. I know it has a lot of fat in it, but it’s good fat. The bit that I read on the internet said it’s really healthy. Mmmmmm, hummus.

Health Group- week 44

Good morning. Well, let’s see…. I weighed in pretty heavy this morning. 223. Ugh. I knew I would though. I’ve been quite inactive the past month or so due to being sick, and I haven’t been exercising. This past week was impossible with the trip and all, so I transfer my hopes and intentions to next week. It should go well. I feel extremely motivated. Not just by the scale, but because I feel sluggish and unhealthy. I long for those exercising endorphins again. Plus, I want to hit the weights and start rebuilding muscle. They’ve diminished in the past several months, and I want them back. SO, I am feeling optimistic and happy today.

I’ve caught the juicing bug again. Those of you who have been around might remember that this isn’t new. But I forgot for awhile. It’s jumping into my head again that I need to be juicing and drinking wheatgrass. This means I need to somehow acquire a juicer with wheatgrass capabilities. Does anyone have a good one they can recommend?

Now we’re off to Puyallup for a fiber festival. It’s my first, and I’m very excited!

How was your week?

Health Group- week 43

Good morning. I’m feeling a bit better, although I’m still quite tired. So, to get to the point, I haven’t been exercising and I’ve been eating rotten. I miss my healthy routine extremely and hope to get back to it this next week. It will be a bit challenging because we’re now on Spring Break, and I intend to go out of town for at least part of it.

How is it going out there? This weekly check in is so helpful for me. Spending three Saturdays in a row “off the wagon” due to illness threatens routine. Checking in every Saturday keeps me from being complacent. I’m anxious to get going again. It’s nice.

Oh, and as for my birthday goal, I think it’s too late. Nothing has been happening for me since I started it, so I’m going to give up the specific weight goal and just try to recover from being sick. Sigh.

Health Group- week 42

I haven’t weighed today, but I’ve been maintaining my 5-6 pounds of weight loss from last week. It’s still related to being sick. I haven’t exercised. I haven’t eaten, much less eaten well. I’m averaging a meal a day, and it’s a fast and easy meal at that, so nothing fabulous. I do have more energy today, so aside from feeling like someone has a death grip on my chest and is squeezing at random, I’m doing better.

How are you?

Health Group- week 41

The good news is, I lost 4.5 pounds this week! The bad news is that it’s entirely due to dehydration and lack of food. I am so sick, I want to die. I’ve had a fever for three days, every single bit of me hurts…. and this week started out SO well.

Monday, I did PT and 50 minutes of treadmill.
Tuesday and Wednesday I did the same.
Thursday, Friday, and today, I’m just trying to survive.

This week, I had decided to cut out sugar. I’ve been unable to cut sugar and all other refined carbs, so I thought I’d start with sugar. I’ve done really well. I felt better the first part of the week. I am thinking it is something I’m going to continue.

That’s it. I’m beat. Talk amongst yourselves in the comments. I’ve gotta go.

Health Group- week 40

Good morning! I had a pretty good week. Not perfect, but significantly better than the last several weeks.

Monday- physical therapy
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday- 50 minutes of treadmill and physical therapy
Friday- I had physical therapy in the morning, and was gone the rest of the day. No exercise.

I’m happy with that. Tuesday, I wanted to DIE, it was so hard to exercise. Wednesday was fine, and Thursday I felt fabulous. I think the exercise helped me through a difficult week. I intend to exercise today, but first, I’m going bra shopping. You envy me, I can tell. I’m sure from my pictures it isn’t any great surprise that I can rarely find a bra that fits me. Nate is trying to get me to agree to an appointment at a specialty bra place. I’m resisting. I don’t entirely know why, other than my one experience, shortly after Veronica was born. I went to the hospital to be fitted for a large nursing bra. It was expensive, no surprise there, and the next day when I looked in the mirror, I was sagging to my stomach. This did not please me. I spent the rest of my nursing time using my regular bra.

Today is different because I am not newly postpartum, but the experience left me feeling that if I get a bra that really “fits”, I’m going to grossly sag. I’m not yet willing to resign to that. I’m fighting it. Anyone out there with any experience in this ought to nod knowingly when I say that good lift is the difference between voluptuous and dumpy. I know that I feel 50 pounds prettier when they’re up.

Ok, that was potentially Too Much Information. Right, so…..

Woo-hoo! Good week! However, I’m running out of time before my birthday. Although I’m not officially changing my birthday goal, I’m preparing for a compromise. Right now, I’m hoping to lose ANYTHING by my birthday.

How’s it going? How’re you doing? What are you eating for lunch?

Health Group- week 39

Good morning! How are you doing out there? I’m not up to where I want to be, but I feel I’m making little improvements.

Monday-nothing
Tuesday- I did physical therapy, and I was going to do the treadmill, but my hip was really hurting (weird) so I didn’t
Wednesday- I didn’t exercise because I was going to a belly dancing open house at night, and I figured I’d get it in then. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to DO any belly dancing, so Wednesday was a bust.
Thursday- physical therapy and 50 minutes of treadmill! Woo-hoo!
Friday- physical therapy

Today, I am confident I’ll get my exercise in. So, another so-so week, but I did something, and I’m eating better.

Let’s hear some progress… Who had a great week?

UPDATE- I did it. I took the dog for a 2 mile walk on this beautiful sunny day. Later, I may do some weights. Have a good one!
