Health Group- Year 2, week 33

Hey all. Another busy day. Two birthday parties, Nate had to speak at the University of Washington, I had to help set up a quilting service project at the church, and we spent an hour and a half looking at the cool house again, this time with the kids. Right now, the realtor is in the living room with Nate, planning and plotting on how we can get our house ready to sell (we need to put a new roof on) and make an offer on the new one. And we’re looking at closing dates, which are freakishly close to delivery date….

Yes, it’s insanity.

This morning, I weighed in at 234, which is a total weight gain of 10 pounds thus far. And I’ll be 30 weeks on Wednesday. Why I’m not gaining any weight is beyond me, but I’ll take it.

No exercise this week. Not enough water.

But it looks like I passed my glucose test!

How are you doing?

Health Group- Year 2, week 32

I’m pretty happy about how I ate this week. Definitely more healthy than not, and I was able to be productive throughout the week, although my energy crashed each afternoon.

Still no exercise.

BUT, I went to my doctor appointment on Wednesday, and I only gained 1/2 pound over the last 5 weeks! I have no idea how that is possible, but I’m happy with it. At home, my morning weight is back down at 234.5, so really, I’ve only gained 10 pounds thus far in the pregnancy, and I’m at almost 29 weeks.

Good stuff.

How’s it going out there?

I’m sorry I haven’t been good at responding to Health Group comments the past two weeks. I like to respond individually to HG comments, but the last two weeks got away from me.

I’m going out of town now, heading to Portland to be with my sister while she tries on wedding dresses. She’s up from San Antonio, Texas for a few days. I’m hoping to be back tonight, if I can physically handle making the drive twice in a day.

Later.

Health Group- Year 2, week 31

Good morning. I’m doing a little better today I think.

I haven’t been well enough to exercise, but I’ve been making efforts to eat better. I’m still eating junk food, but I’m making more of an effort to get some nutrition in as well, and I’ll start shifting over to more healthy food. I’m making lists.

We’re doing Saturday chores today around the house. Something neither of us usually do. It feels good.

How is your year starting?

Health Group- Year 2, week 30

Good afternoon, and a happy New Year to you!

Yesterday, I made some significant progress in the garage clearing out my exercise space, but there’s more to do.

I’m approaching 240 pregnancy weight, which I’m dreading more than I thought I would. It’s pushing me to action. When I was pregnant with Veronica, I stayed in the same clothes for most of it, because I was losing tummy fat while gaining baby bulge. It worked out beautifully. I’d sure like to do that again.

The problem is cravings. I have a serious sugar addiction going on, and it sucks. I need to kick it in the butt. So far, the addiction is winning. Every time I get all psyched up and motivated, I crumble within hours to sugar. Which wipes out productive energy as well as adding empty calories.

Dangit.

But, overall, I have a lot more consistent energy than I have had in a long time. I’d like to make the most of it before the third trimester really sets in. I’m close. I don’t know when it technically begins, but I’m almost 27 weeks now, so it’s coming.

Lots of things are going to happen in the new year. I need to get ready for baby. I want to start knitting for baby, and I want to get in better shape so I don’t feel like a flabby lump after delivery. I’d like to at least be able to feel some muscles buried in there. Even if they’re fatigued and hiding.

Let’s hear some New Year’s goals for Health Group!

Mine are these…

I’d like to spend about 45 minutes a day, six days a week doing some light exercise. I want to alternate physical therapy and weights with the treadmill.

I want to drink more water. I’ve fallen off that wagon.

I want to eat healthy and not succumb to my stupid sugar cravings.

You?

Health Group- Year 2, week 29

Happy Christmas Eve! We are supposed to be at my mother-in-law’s right now, watching the girls participate in a live reenactment of the nativity, but Veronica threw up in an ice cream shop this afternoon, so Nate and the girls are at the in-laws and V and I are home. I honestly don’t mind the quiet evening. She’s going to open a couple presents in a few minutes, thus compensating her for not being able to play with her cousins, and I’m going to stuff the stockings early and go to bed. I’m tired.

Hopefully, she’ll sleep it off tonight, and tomorrow will continue as planned.

This week, shocker, I didn’t do much in the way of maintaining or improving my health. I’ve been eating Christmas Crap, and I can tell. I’m tired all the time, and my heart is bothering me again. So, I am looking forward to getting back to my regular, holiday-free life and schedule.

I did manage to do some physical therapy. As the tummy is getting bigger, and I feel the “pregnant waddle” nearing, I am ever more concerned for my back. I’m seeing more and more physical therapy activity in my future. And that’s a good thing.

And if it feels like I’m stringing Health Group along ’til the new year, I am. But I’m still here, maintaining the habit, and that’s important to me.

Any of you doing well? Tell me about it.

Health Group- Year 2, week 28

Wow, the day got away from me!

I’m weighing in at 235.5 the past two days. So at 25 weeks, I’ve gained a little over 10 pounds. Hopefully, it won’t accelerate. I didn’t manage to get any exercise in this week, as it’s been very busy, but I did wear myself out.

The baby is very active and kicks me a lot. A whole lot. Heartburn seems to be more of a constant companion as well. The baby feels really high to me, as my bladder is unaffected so far, but any pressure on my stomach increases heartburn.

I’ve been eating too many sweets, but I’m still doing alright, as I’m making an effort to eat more often, and I’m trying to include healthy things.

Any news out there? I know it’s a rough time of year to exercise and eat right. January is right around the corner, however, and I expect renewed resolve from both myself and you!

Health Group- Year 2, week 27

Well, I’m late but I didn’t miss the Saturday post! Nate and I were out all day, having a glorious anniversary, then we picked up the kids and headed strait off to the church Christmas party, where Veronica was a sheep

and Abigail was THE star!

It was quite fun, however you can probably tell from the grainy pictures that I couldn’t get very close, and I couldn’t zoom in because there was almost NO light on the stage, and my flash wouldn’t reach that far, so I had to turn it off. I’m amazed I got anything in the way of post-able pictures at all.

Oh, and I have to tell you, the boy to Veronica’s right kept whacking her on the head with his sheep mask, and the two kids on either side of her kept banging their sticks on the stage loudly. V just sat there, looking a little confused by them, and quietly sitting with her mask. It was hilarious, and I was proud of her.

So, on to Health Group…

I did my physical therapy exercises on Wednesday. It was good. I’m still feeling better, although I haven’t stuck as well to the “no sugar rule” this week. I need to do better so I don’t have a relapse of unpleasant pregnancy symptoms.

How was your week?

Health Group- Year 2, week 26

Hello everyone. I think my diet is helping. I haven’t blacked out once, and I’ve only had a heart racing/dizzy spell twice that I can remember, neither of which were very severe.

The diet isn’t hard to stick to, particularly since I’m not strictly on the weight loss portion of it.

And I’m liking the snacks. Previously, I’d heard about the Abs Diet, and others that want you to eat 6 times a day, and I thought it was more effort than I could bear. In practice, hasn’t been bad at all, and I like never feeling super hungry or desperate. I like not raiding the kitchen for whatever I could find when I was already starving. It has taken a bit of planning, but in my opinion, it’s been well worth it.

Of course, I love cheese. And since a lot of the snacks involve cheese, so much the better.

Still no exercise, but you shouldn’t be surprised. I’ve spent the week working on the stupid VCC zipper and finishing up the Interlocking Balloons scarf. I have to say I made the conscious decision to knit over exercise. Shame on me.

Maybe next week?

Health Group- Year 2, week 25

Good morning. The sun is out, it’s looking to be a beautiful autumn day. We are heading off to the store to get food for the big diet change. I’m hoping to start having legitimate Health Group posts again, as opposed to the recently common list of excuses. Like this one…

Well, I didn’t exercise this week. I’m hoping that next week will be better, but I’m taking steps. This diet change is supposed to help me feel better and have more energy, so I should be able to exercise more.

And the pregnant weigh-in this morning? 232.5. I’m happy with that. I was up at 234 earlier in the week.

How are you doing?
